About me
Kelsey Machado is a well known local doula who accepts Medi-Cal Partnership and various private insurances along with private pay with sliding scale. She strives to make birth feel safe, seen and heard in a trauma informed lens with informed consent and compassion at the center of her care. Professionally Kelsey is a Policy Council and sitting Board of Directors member of North Coast Children's Services serving Humboldt and Del Nortes' most vulnerable children populations. She also has extensive professional experience in reproductive healthcare. From providing one on one sexual health education, community outreach to reproductive patient advocacy. She is a former Community Health Instructor at a private medical school. She teaches topics such as health disparities, generational trauma and health obstacles surrounding vulnerable populations.

I serve Humboldt County as a birth and postpartum doula who accepts Medi-Cal Partnership and an array of private health insurances along with sliding scale private pay options. It is my mission to support women in being held, seen and celebrated to walk confidently into motherhood. Through prenatal education, birth support and postpartum care rooted in advocacy and compassion I aim to support all women through one of life’s greatest metamorphous. I believe in the innate conscious connection of mother and baby. I value informed, compassionate and consensual care. I offer in home prenatal education visits, birth and postpartum preparation and planning, in person birth support and in home postpartum care.

Kelsey was all around wonderful, compassionate, present, respectful, supportive, empathetic, and educated. I am so glad we chose her as our doula! As my birth plans drastically shifted, she was there, supportive and offering a listening ear and asking questions for my husband and i to deeper understand our own feelings. She never pressured us one way or the other and supported us whole heartedly in all our choices and feelings. She served as a wonderful advocate for me in the hospital and throughout medical testing, and put lots of love into the in-home work she did for us postpartum. I would highly recommend her to any woman looking for a doula.

Our doula Kelsey was amazing we were fortunate to have her by our side during the process of welcoming our baby girl! She educated, prepared and guided me and my wife for what we were about to experience and that took a lot of the pressure off that we were both feeling on the days leading up to birth, she was there by our side in the hospital on our big day! Kelsey is such an amazing soul! She is one of the most humble and present human beings which are just a few of the many attributes she possesses that make her such a great doula. Kelsey is also very thorough and organized with her doula care making things much easier on the mama while being pregnant. Very blessed to have had her through my journey of pregnancy all the way to postpartum. I couldn’t recommend her enough to other mamas!
