Congratulations on this exciting new journey! I am a birth and postpartum doula in Pocatello, and serve the surrounding areas. Here is a little more background about me. I grew up in Utah in the Salt Lake Valley. I loved my time at the University of Utah earning a bachelors degree in English. Some of my other interests include psychology, music, eastern and western medicine practices, and all things self-sustainability. My husband and I have four children—three girls and one boy. We spent eight years in Utah raising our family before relocating to Pocatello in 2020. Becoming a mother is the single best thing that has ever happened to me. I also think it is the hardest thing I will ever do. I’ve been passionate about serving women in pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period since my first pregnancy. I’ve felt a calling to be a birth and postpartum doula as a way to connect with generations of women before me. Birth is one of the most vulnerable experiences a woman will ever have. I am honored to be allowed into the inner circle while holding each mother as she is born and gives birth to new life. I believe that birth is a normal physiological process. It does not need to be a medical event, and is rarely an emergency. Our society has forgotten how to best educate and support families in this exciting time. Birth is meant to be intimate, but our current care system doesn’t treat it that way. My goal is to make you feel empowered in the process. I want you to feel confident in your abilities and whatever choices you make surrounding birth.
