About me

Hello, I’m Laporcha And Birth work was called to me after my mother passed away. In that moment, I realized she would no longer be there to comfort me, advocate for me, or welcome another child into this world by my side. She would never have the opportunity to be my doula. So, I became one. I became a birth doula for those who need to be seen and heard. For those who have lost their support systems. For those who fear they won't have the beautiful birth experience they dream of. For those whose voices have been silenced but whose hearts have so much to say. For those whose trauma feels louder than their strength. For those who struggle to advocate for themselves. And for the first-time mother who is terrified of walking into motherhood alone. I bring all of me into this work—my own birth experiences, my fears, my healing, my trauma, my gifts, my compassion, and my knowledge. Those pieces have shaped the doula I am today. My mother was the roots of our family. She was our safe place, our strength, and the one who nurtured everyone around her. Though she is no longer here physically, her love continues to grow through me. That is why I chose the name Mello Roots. I will water her legacy through every birth I attend. I will stand beside mothers the way she would have stood beside me. Every mother I support and every baby I welcome becomes another branch on a tree that continues to grow from love, resilience, and community. My hope is that every family I serve leaves knowing they never had to walk this journey alone. Together, we create a village—one birth, one mother, one baby at a time. – Mello Roots LLC Laporcha M.

I was assigned, and worked with another doula throughout my pregnaney and was advised that she might not be the one on call when the baby came. It made me a little nervous when I went into labor on a day i knew my doula was not on call, I was worried about going through labor and birth with someone l've never met before However Laporcha was such a calm presence. And was so wiling to assist and comfort. She was very kind, attentive and easy to talk to, I really appreciated her presence, I would highly recommend Laporcha!

Laporcha was a great Doula to have. She was very attentive, caring and informative Laporcha came into my room with her co-workers and saw me in distress with my labor and immediately approached me asking if it was okay to help me. I agreed I had polyhdramnios "Extreme" while in labor so my emotions were everywhere. I had doctors coming in telling me Worse case scenarios with my labor, and support system wasn't very helpful sad to say. having Laporcha be there at that very moment was very helpful. Not only physically but Mentally, she taught me how to breathe slowly and take it one step at a time. I actually known Laporcha my whole life and it was fate that she came into my delivery room when she did After i gave birth Laporcha stood by my side making sure i was feeling ok, and if i needed anything. She was very informative on breastfeeding, but i wasnt to sure about taking that Route so i chose not to breastfeed, She was also very informative on how to heal and take care of my body and different methods for postpartum. She came back to visit me after birth to do a follow up, she stayed for about an hour in a half. Even when i got home she checked on me and the baby daily to make sure we were okay. She really went above and beyond for is and i would recommend her to anyone.
