About Laura

Hello! My name is Laura Rayford and I am a DONA certified birth doula in the Bay Area. I am passionate about guiding birthing people with nurturing and empowering support; working together towards your ideal birthing experience. I have completed two birth doula trainings. One through Hospital Friendly Doulas (which has allowed me to work as a volunteer doula at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, CA) and the other with Sierra Birth Institute (a training approved by DONA). Both provided me with invaluable information and numerous tools which allow me to confidently support birthing people and their families.Prior to working as a doula, I worked as a nanny for 15+ years. I have always been drawn to working closely with families and giving children the best possible care. For me, this naturally led me to doula work, helping new little people be brought into the world by their capable, brave and extraordinary birthing parent. I am excited and passionate about this work and deeply appreciate your considering inviting me into such a personal and powerful chapter of your life.

What to expect

My basic doula package inclues 3 prenatal sessions to discuss your birth pkan, learn breathing/comfort techniques and prep for postpartum. 10 days before your due date I will go on call for you, being availible 24/7, until baby arrives. After your birth we will have 2 postpartum sessions to discuss your birth and for me to be of service in anyway you may need.

You couldn’t ask for a better person to help you during postpartum. Laura has a way of teaching and supporting you in a nonjudgmental way, always finding what works best for you and your family. She helps you see that there is no right or wrong way of doing things which is something that can be difficult as a new parent. She is kind, encouraging, mindful, and overall a true baby (and new parent) whisperer. Anyone would be lucky to have her support.
