Overnight Newborn Care

My overnight care package is designed to give families restful nights and peace of mind during the early postpartum period. I provide in-home, hands-on support throughout the night, caring for your baby while you sleep, supporting feeding routines, soothing, diapering, and monitoring sleep patterns. Most importantly, I help lay the foundation for healthy, independent sleep by following gentle, developmentally appropriate strategies based on your family's goals. In addition to newborn care, I also take care of baby-related tasks such as washing bottles and pump parts, storing breast milk, and doing baby laundry as needed. Whether you're breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or doing a combination, I work alongside you to support your preferences while gradually encouraging longer stretches of sleep. Most families I work with see their baby sleeping 10–12 hours overnight by the end of our time together.

2-Week Virtual Sleep Consulting (Ages 3 Months – 5 Years)

This package is designed for families who are ready to make meaningful changes to their child’s sleep from the comfort of their own home, with expert support every step of the way. After a detailed intake process, I’ll create a customized sleep plan based on your child’s age, temperament, sleep history, and your parenting style Once the plan is in place, we’ll begin two weeks of daily support. You'll have access to me via voice/text messaging (Monday–Friday) for real-time guidance, troubleshooting, and encouragement as we work through the process together. I’ll monitor progress closely and make adjustments as needed to help your child reach independent, restorative sleep, often achieving 10–12 hour stretches overnight and improved naps. This package is ideal for families struggling with frequent night wakings, short naps, early morning wake-ups, or the need to be rocked, fed, or held to sleep.

In-Home Sleep Training Add-On- 10 Hour Shift

For families who prefer extra hands-on support, I offer in-home sleep training as an optional add-on to the 2-week virtual package. This is a great way to kick off the sleep plan with in-person guidance and reassurance. Depending on my availability, I can support your family for just the first night to help implement the plan and establish a strong foundation, or stay for the first few nights to help guide the process more closely. During these 10-hour overnight shifts, I’ll be there to support your child through the sleep training method outlined in your personalized plan while offering encouragement and updates along the way. This add-on helps many families feel more confident and supported as they begin making big sleep changes. *Must be booked with the 2-week virtual consulting package ($500+)

Lauren has worked with our baby on good sleep habits, sleep conditioning and sleep training from the newborn phase up to 17 months. She worked with us through multiple sleep regressions, including the 4-mo. and 16-mo. regressions. Her methods are wonderfully effective. I highly recommend Lauren for her experience and the sleep results she achieves. In addition, she is an excellent communicator, truly listens to the family's needs and preferences, and is empathetic to boot. Can't recommend her highly enough!

Frequently asked questions

How early should we book you for overnight support?

As early as you can! Some families reach out as soon as they find out they’re expecting to secure care in advance. I do recommend waiting until after your first ultrasound to finalize booking, but spots fill quickly, especially since most families book me for 12–16 weeks at a time. The earlier you reach out, the more likely I’ll have availability for your preferred dates.

Do you help with multiples?

Yes! I have experience working with twins and can support feeding coordination, sleep routines, and overnight care for both babies.

What if my baby is already a few weeks old—can I still book overnight support?

Possibly! I occasionally have gaps in my schedule and may be able to offer a night here or there. However, consistent overnight support is unlikely to be available on short notice, as most families book me in advance for multi-week contracts. It never hurts to ask, if I have an opening, I’m happy to help however I can.

Do you offer daytime support or just overnights?

I only work nights for in-home care. However, if you hire me as your virtual sleep coach, one major advantage is my night shift schedule, I’ll be available to you in the middle of the night when most others aren’t! This means quicker responses when you need them most.

Do you sleep when the baby sleeps? Do you provide awake care?

As a sleep specialist, and someone passionate about my own rest, I don’t take on any daytime work. This allows me to prioritize my own sleep(7-8 hours) and ensures I arrive at your home well-rested, focused, and ready for the night ahead. During my overnight shifts, I’m typically awake and engaged, keeping myself busy with quiet activities like reading, working on my laptop, or watching a show with headphones. After working exclusively overnight for the past seven years, I’m basically nocturnal! It's likely I’ll naturally stay awake all night. That said, if your baby is sleeping soundly and all care tasks are complete, I may briefly rest my eyes, usually around 4–5 AM, if time allows. If a family requires me to stay fully awake for the entire shift without the option to rest, an additional fee will be added to the hourly rate.

Can you be here the night we get home from the hospital?

Sometimes! Babies come on their own schedule, and because I book families back-to-back, flexibility can be limited. If you have a scheduled induction or C-section, there’s a good chance I can be there the night you arrive home. If you're planning to deliver naturally, I typically recommend booking my first night for 5–7 days after your due date to allow for some wiggle room and avoid scheduling conflicts. If it’s important to have me there the night you come home, and your delivery date is uncertain, I can reserve those early nights just for you. However, since I’ll be turning down other work and holding those nights exclusively, they’ll be billed as full 8-hour shifts at my standard hourly rate, regardless of whether baby arrives that day.

How many weeks do families usually book you for overnight newborn support?

It really varies! I’ve supported families as frequently as six nights a week for a full year, and as occasionally as once a week. That said, to take full advantage of everything I offer, I typically recommend booking 12–16 weeks of overnight care. By that point, assuming baby is full term, we’ll likely have worked through key milestones like independent sleep, night weaning, and swaddle transition. Families who book this length of support often find their baby is sleeping through the night by the end of our time together and doesn’t require formal sleep training down the road.

What sleep training method do you use?

I primarily use a gentle, structured, custom method called graduated extinction, which is often confused with "cry it out" but is actually quite different. With this approach, we allow your child time to self-soothe and fall asleep independently, while checking in at timed intervals to offer brief reassurance. It provides consistency and space for learning, but you're never ignoring your baby, we're supporting them as they build a new skill. That said, sleep is not one-size-fits-all. If a family isn't comfortable with this method, or if we're working with a toddler or older child, I’ll adjust the plan using other evidence-based approaches that align with the child’s age, temperament, and your parenting style. My goal is always to find a respectful, sustainable solution that works for your whole family.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! Payment plans for virtual sleep packages are available through Afterpay. Please note there is a 6% processing fee added to the total when choosing this option.

What happens after the 2-week virtual package ends?

By the end of the two weeks, most children are either sleeping through the night or well on their way, and families typically feel confident continuing on their own. If your child is still making progress and you'd like continued support, I offer the option to extend coaching on a week-by-week basis.

Do you provide a refund if my child isn’t sleeping through the night by the time we’re done?

Because each plan is customized to your child and family, and includes dedicated time, support, and coaching, I do not offer refunds. I depend on parents to provide consistent feedback and follow the plan closely so I can track progress and make adjustments as needed well before our time together ends. That said, my goal is always for you to feel supported and satisfied with the results, and I’m committed to working closely with you to help your child make meaningful progress.

What if I still want to breastfeed overnight? Can I still sleep train?

Yes! Night weaning and sleep training are not exclusive, you can absolutely sleep train while continuing to breastfeed overnight. It’s very possible to have a baby who is a confident, independent sleeper and still wakes to nurse when needed. If your goal is to continue breastfeeding until your baby naturally drops night feeds, I’ll fully support that. And if you'd like to gradually reduce or eliminate night feeds, we can work a gentle, gradual weaning process into your sleep plan.

What does a night of support look like if I’m breastfeeding?

Overnight support can be incredibly helpful even if you’re exclusively breastfeeding. I’ll keep your baby with me in the nursery or separate space so you’re not disturbed by every grunt or wiggle. When it’s time for a feeding, I’ll bring your baby to you and either assist with latching or give you space and wait in the other room. Once feeding is complete, I’ll handle diapering, re-swaddling, and settling your baby back to sleep so you can return to bed right away. Most breastfeeding parents are only awake 15–20 minutes every few hours and can still get a solid 2.5–3 hours of rest between feeds. If you’d like to combo feed, with me giving 1–2 bottle feeds overnight and you breastfeeding for one, we’ll come up with a schedule that helps optimize your rest. Prefer to pump while I feed? I’ll make sure pump parts are clean and ready, and I’ll collect and store the milk for you so you don’t even have to get out of bed. The goal is to keep you as rested and supported as possible while still meeting your breastfeeding goals.
