My name is Carisa Niemyer and I work as a doula and doula trainer in Colorado SpringsI found my way into doula work through the birth of my first child. My story didn't go exactly how I wanted and my baby had her own story of how she wanted to be born, as these babes often do. But after my delivery I felt so empowered and supported and loved my story. Much of the reason this was true was because of the support of a doula. That experience led me into the world of birth work and I have now been a doula for 18 years, working in both birth and postpartum, as well as training new doulas at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland OR as well as in my own training organization here in Colorado Springs. I am passionate about supporting families in whatever their birth choices are, and believe non-judgemental, continuous support thought a families journey can make all the difference! I have worked with a lot of families over the years and each story has been unique and beautiful. I have experience is both high risk and low risk pregnancies. Hospital births as well as home births. I also have experience with twins and triplets, both in birth and postpartum work. My hope is that each family I work with feels empowered and supported in whatever choices they make as they boldly enter this new season of life!

When I tell my birth story, I always end up singing Carissa's praises! She was there for us as we prepped for the birth of our first son and was by my side throughout labor and delivery. She was so encouraging and grounding and kept me going throughout an extremely exhausting labor process. My homebirth didn't go as expected, and I ended up pushing for over 3 hours at home before I transferred to the hospital and eventually ended up getting a c-section due to really tricky positioning. Carissa was by my side from 7 am to about 1 am the next day when my son finally arrived. At home, Carissa encouraged me, helped me try every position imaginable to encourage my baby to come down, and helped my husband know how to best support and love me. When we transferred, Carissa was by my side the whole time, explaining things to me and helping us make choices for each next step. When we finally went in for our C-section, I was able to pick one other person to be there, aside from my husband, and Carissa was the obvious choice (even over my sister and my midwife, both whom I adore, of course!). Carissa also took the most amazing photos with one of our phones during the surgery and I'm so thankful to have those memories! She was there for me in recovery and helped my son latch for the first time and continued to be a support to me in postpartum. I tell ALL of my friends who are having babies to hire Carissa, and of course, it was a no-brainer that she would be by my side as I deliver my second baby in a matter of weeks! If you're looking for a doula, look no further!

Meldyn is a true joy to work with. I wish I had worked with her for the birth of my first-it wasn’t a great experience and think she could have made all the difference in the world. I’m so thankful she helped me with the birth of my second child. It was such a beautiful experience. She was there for me leading up to the birth, during, and afterward offering helpful advice and encouragement. I credit her with helping me have quick labor and delivery and helping me avoid a C-section. It was a beautiful birth and all I had hoped for. I believe much of that is from working with her and planning what we could together. She is so knowledgeable and has a calming, supportive energy. I highly recommend Meldyn and would ask her if she’d be my doula if I had another baby. She is a gifted doula and wonderful person.

I’ve worked with Marya as a Labor and Delivery nurse for 3 years and she has been a true mentor and inspiration in the birthing world. I can attest that she has had such a positive and proud impact on each patient she has cared for. Better yet she was able to mentor and coach me through my own pregnancy and provided wonderful care to me and my family during my prenatal, labor, and postpartum period. I was blessed to be able to receive body work throughout my pregnancy and at the same time she coached me through all of the doubts in my mind about what could go wrong. Needless to say she gave me the tools to have a wonderful and empowering birthing experience!

Rowan Hawkins

My name is Rowan Hawkins (she/they), and I bring nearly three decades of living, working, and learning into my work as a full-spectrum doula, specializing with families with miscarriages and stillborn births. I am also a traveling CO notary public, folk Harper, certified child passanger safety technician (CPST), and mother of my one-and-only rainbow baby (who was born via medically necessary C-section). My career path has been eclectic—spanning universities, hospitality, medical offices, and finance—but in every role, I found myself drawn to supporting others, keeping things organized, and creating calm in the middle of complexity. I hold a bachelor’s degree in science with a minor in anthropology, and I’ve always been fascinated by the ways we care for one another. As a doula, I support: ~ Non-religious practices first ~ Skin-to-skin as much as humanly possible ~ Breast is preferred, but fed is best ~ Cesarean births are natural births ~ Abortion is healthcare ~ Vaccines save lives ~ Advocacy, knowledge, and empowerment for all ~ Death is natural and healthy to discuss I also encourage open-book business practices! Hi All! I am Cheryl Small, a Birth & Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator serving families in northern Colorado. Three decades ago I had my first baby via cesarean and my next three babies were born naturally at home attended by midwives, which was a decision that changed the course of my life. I am passionate about all things natural health and believe the body has the ability to perform beyond what our minds can comprehend. This includes physiological birth. The body knows what to do. Does that mean every birth goes accordingly? Not always. But I have found the biggest obstacle is not the body, but the mind, so when prepared with education, tools, support and informed decision making, the chances of obtaining your desired birth are greater. I have supported over 60 births in the last 2.5 years at home, in birthing centers and hospitals and would love to walk alongside you through pregnancy, labor, delivery and ALL things postpartum. It's vital to not forget the fourth trimester which is when baby comes home and families may need the most support. In my free time, I am often seeking out a new hiking trail in the mountains.

My name is Lyssa Zawalski, and I am a postpartum doula undergoing certification with DONA. My path towards becoming a postpartum doula was a winding one, with stops along the way as a teacher, social worker, and product manager. While I have found a depth to each of these titles, becoming a postpartum doula has felt like so much more. Quickly after giving birth to my daughter, I realized that I was underprepared and undereducated on what came next. Postpartum was filled with navigating solo parenting, PMADs (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders), and lack of a “village.” Once enough time had passed and I could more objectively look back at my postpartum period, the most glaring observation was that I had desperately needed help. I needed support in understanding how to feed my baby, what infant sleep looked like, how to find ways to take care of myself (which felt impossible at times). Having a postpartum doula would have changed my postpartum experience as well as the early years of parenthood. I cannot imagine a more tender time to support a family. I truly believe the care and support that we receive in our postpartum period determines so much of how we start our parenting journeys. Thank you for being here, and thank you for trusting me with the most precious pieces of your heart.

Lyssa has been an ongoing guide to motherhood, since she had her daughter. Her unfiltered honesty in motherhood was very real, deep and a refreshing view compared to posed family photos. When I had my second baby, I thought it was going to be different, since I knew what to do this time around. In a sense, it was. However, when the lack of sleep crept in, I called upon Lyssa. She knew the anxiety, the deep seated feelings I felt, and had already lived the intrusive thoughts I had. She was present for the hardest parts, and I can NOT thank her enough for seeing me and understanding motherhood, by walking with me on this journey.

My name is Courtney Moore Rodriguez. I am a certified lactation educator (CLE), certified postpartum doula (CPD), and certified infant and family sleep specialist (IFSS). I am here to support your family in person (within the Denver metro area) and/or virtually…from the time you find out you’re expecting, through your baby’s first birthday. In those first few weeks and months, it can be hard to ask for help. I am a strong believer in helping families to help themselves (with a good amount of time for rest and self care thrown in too). Rather than taking care of your baby for you, I make sure that you have the skills, knowledge, and rest to do it on your own. I assist families in a non-judgmental fashion and always strive to meet you where you are. I am up to date on the latest research regarding infant feeding, sleep, and newborn care, and can give you non-biased information so that you can make informed choices that work for your family.

Courtney is so wonderful!! We worked with her as a postpartum doula as first time parents. Before baby came, thought we’d work with her for a few weeks…..nine months later I still rely on Courtney as an extremely trusted resource and for support when we need it. She shaped our parenting experience in those first few weeks and months so much for the better that I have so much gratitude for her patience, knowledge, emotional support and calming presence. Courtney provided amazing, loving care to our baby and taught my husband and I really everything at the beginning as we had no experience with babies! It was such peace of mind knowing I could ask Courtney anything and not rely on the rabbit hole of google or social media. She helped us through so many challenges during such an emotional time and helped with all kinds of things to make our lives easier. Months later we still turned to Courtney for help on baby sleep, eating and also for my breastfeeding journey. I would never have even started my breastfeeding journey, never mind made it to ten months, without her. I am beyond grateful we found Courtney to work with and recommend anyone to work with her!

Hi, I’m Caroline and I’m a Board certified Health and Wellness Coach located in Colorado. I’m also a fellow mother to a toddler and 4 month old. I help postpartum moms navigate challenges and work towards their health and wellness goals in this new chapter of life called postpartum (and not just in those first 6 weeks after birth). My goal is always to support mothers in their new or continuing role. Often attention turns to the baby after birth and we forget about taking care of and supporting the mother.
After all, Mother Hens are great at nurturing and protecting their baby chicks but sometimes that comes at the expense of their own health or needs and desires.

Recent review

Caroline became my postpartum coach when my son was just over a year old and I was feeling a little lost from myself. I had decided to not continue with my job and was home full time which was an unexpected decision, leaving me with a lack of confidence. My time working with Caroline offered me the tools to regain parts of myself and see who I was in this new context as a mom. I was able to feel an ownership of my life again through Caroline's encouragement and accountability. Taking care of yourself as a mom can be really hard, but it makes a huge difference in the health of yourself and your family! And that can look like getting support through a postpartum coach because this time of life is such a significant shift in so many ways!

Hello! I’m Liana (she/her) and I’m thrilled that you’ve found me! Beyond my ever-increasing passion for all things birth-related, I am a big fan of reading rom-coms, dragging my husband out on adventures with our three kids, extroverting (is that a word?) with friends, and generally enjoying this hectic and lovely life. Now on to why you’re here! After the birth of our first child, I realized there were some big gaps in the childbirth classes that we took. Before we became pregnant again, I was researching what we had missed and awoke a passion for childbirth and maternal care that has only deepened over the years. After our three kids were born, I became a Childbirth Educator in 2017 and a Birth Doula in 2018. I also delivered two babies as a gestational surrogate in 2019 and 2021. I love supporting families of all kinds, including (but not limited to) biological families, adoptive parents, LGBTQ+ parents, single parents, and surrogates and IPs. I look forward to getting to know you!
