About Margarita

Hi everyone! My name is Margarita, and I’m a certified birth doula, lactation educator, and mom of two based in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish and have a background in public health and maternal and child health, with experience supporting families through pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding education, and home visitation programs. My passion for maternal health grew even stronger after becoming a mother myself. I believe every mother deserves to feel informed, empowered, respected, and supported throughout her pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. As a bilingual doula, I hope to help bridge language and cultural gaps so families feel comfortable, heard, and confident in their choices. I’m also the founder of Flor de Leche, a brand inspired by motherhood, breastfeeding, and my Latina roots. I look forward to connecting with families and providing compassionate, personalized support during one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives!

Frequently asked questions

What does a birth doula do?

A birth doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. My role is to help you feel informed, comfortable, and supported while respecting your individual birth preferences. I work alongside your medical team and support system to help create a positive birth experience.

When should I hire a doula?

You can hire a doula at any point during pregnancy, although I recommend reaching out during your second trimester if possible. This gives us time to get to know each other, discuss your birth preferences, and prepare for your baby's arrival. If you're further along, don't hesitate to reach out!

Do you provide services in Spanish?

Yes! I am bilingual in English and Spanish and am happy to provide support in either language. I understand how important it is to feel comfortable communicating your needs, especially during pregnancy and birth. My goal is to help families feel heard, respected, and supported.

Can I have a doula if I plan to get an epidural?

Absolutely! Doula support is for every type of birth, whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, or a cesarean birth. I am here to support your choices, not influence them. There are many ways I can help you feel comfortable and supported regardless of how your birth unfolds.

Will you replace my partner or other support person?

Not at all! My role is to support both you and your partner or chosen support person. I can help them feel more confident and involved by sharing comfort techniques, offering guidance, and giving them opportunities to rest when needed.

Do you provide breastfeeding support?

Yes! I have a background in lactation education and experience supporting families with breastfeeding and newborn care. I can provide education on feeding cues, positioning, and what to expect during the early days of breastfeeding. If more specialized support is needed, I can also help connect you with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

What areas do you serve?

I primarily serve families throughout the South Bay of Los Angeles, including San Pedro, Palos Verdes, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and surrounding communities. If you're outside these areas, feel free to reach out to discuss availability.

What if my birth doesn't go according to plan?

Birth can be unpredictable, and sometimes plans change. My priority is to help you feel supported and informed regardless of how your labor unfolds. Whether your birth involves an induction, epidural, or unexpected cesarean, I will continue offering emotional support and helping you navigate your options alongside your medical team.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! I understand that preparing for a new baby comes with many expenses. I offer flexible payment options to help make doula support more accessible. We can discuss payment arrangements during your complimentary consultation.

How do I get started?

I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation so we can get to know each other, talk about your pregnancy and birth preferences, and see if we're a good fit. I believe choosing a doula is a personal decision, and I want you to feel comfortable and confident in the support you receive.
