My name is Marissa Goulbourne and I teach prenatal, postnatal, and toddler/kids yoga. Prenatal yoga changed my life in so many ways and I love sharing this beautiful gift with people as much as I can.

We will focus on the signs and stages of labor, when to go to your birth place and what to expect when you arrive. We will discuss pain management techniques including, hands on touch, breathing, acupressure and positioning for labor. This engaging class is designed to prepare expecting people (and partner or support person) for labor by providing a variety of options to help each family identify what approach might best support them. Videos and other visuals enhance the learning experience and the casual setting encourages questions and discussion so that everyone leaves feeling well-informed and confident. This is also an opportunity to meet local parents that are delivering near the same time as you!

Newborn Care

In our Newborn Care workshop you will step into a welcoming and judgment-free community of other new parents and learn all about the basics of newborn care. We will discuss the importance of skin-to-skin, normal newborn characteristics and behavior. We will also discuss newborn soothing techniques including infant massage, types of baby holds and swaddles. We will cover changing diapers, normal stool/wet diaper patterns and frequency. We will also cover baby skin care including, cord care, bathing and identifying common newborn skin characteristics.

Lactation Basics

In our Lactation Basics workshop you will step into a welcoming and judgment free community of other new parents and learn all about the basics of feeding your baby. We will discuss the basics of human lactation, how to support your milk supply, massage for milk let down and optimizing milk flow during the first few weeks with a newborn. We will also discuss all of the newborn feeding cues and how to respond to them appropriately. We will cover common feeding challenges including optimal latch, bringing baby to the nipple, sore nipples, mastitis and various cradles or holds during feeding. We will also cover pumps, bottles, human milk storage protocol, and nipple care. You will leave our Lactation Basics workshop feeling knowledgeable and confident to feed your precious new baby!
