What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Moses Lake, WA?

In Moses Lake, WA, a midwife typically costs about $3,000 to $6,000 for prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum care for a home birth or birth center birth, while hospital-based certified nurse-midwife care may be billed more like standard maternity care and can total roughly $5,000 to $10,000 or more before insurance; actual out-of-pocket cost depends heavily on your insurance, whether the midwife is in network, and whether you need any additional physician or hospital services.

The cost of a midwife in Moses Lake, WA can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

In Moses Lake, WA, insurance often covers some or all of the cost of a midwife, especially if the midwife is licensed, in-network, and your plan includes maternity care, which most ACA-compliant private plans and Medicaid plans do; coverage is usually strongest for certified nurse-midwives providing prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care in hospitals or birth centers, while coverage for licensed midwives attending home births varies more by insurer and plan. Typical total midwife care can range from about $3,000 to $9,000 depending on setting and services, and with insurance you may only owe your deductible, copays, coinsurance, or any out-of-network charges. Washington Medicaid has historically covered many maternity services, including midwifery care, but the exact amount you pay depends on whether the provider is credentialed with your insurer and where you give birth.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Moses Lake, WA, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Hi! My name is Jesse! I am a birth worker! I have always had a calling for Obstetrics and all that it encompasses along with medicine! So to fill those callings I became a doula and a EMT in 2023! I believe that being informed in all that we do is important. Knowledge is power. And when you are at your most vulnerable time (giving birth) it is the most vital time to have all the information and the most support. My goal it to keep my clients informed, answer any questions, find resources. And help try to facilitate the birth that is wanted. I am a judgement-free doula. And am here to be a support person for you.

I want to start by saying when I first was getting a doula I had no idea what to expect or what a doula really would do during a birth. Jesse explained everything so beautifully on what a doula is used for, what the positives a doula can bring to a birthing experience, how doulas can help post-partum, and much more. I didn’t have too hard of a pregnancy but was diagnosed with Cholestasis in my third trimester which led to us needing to be induced around 37 weeks. I expressed my worries and scares with Jesse and we made a plan 💕 Jesse attended a birthing class with my husband and I as we were wanting to learn a little more about the birthing process and see if there was any educational assistance for inductions. Jesse was always one step ahead when it came to our questions and if we weren’t sure, she would ask or would try to find answers. The day came for our induction. We went in at 6am on the 13th and began the process of induction around 9:30am. Jesse was texting with me and checking in on me through the whole beginning process. I asked her if she would come once we got into active labor (which I didn’t know when that would come obviously) but she came that afternoon full of absolute love, excitement, and just a powerful presence. Through the full 39 hours of labor Jesse was by my side through every wake up, every contraction, every scare, every med pass, trying to get to the bathroom and then getting stuck on the toilet in the middle of contractions, reminding me to change positions, and every piece in between. The first 24hrs of labor were full of pressure releases, dance parties trying to work on dilation, watching a movie while trying to bounce on the exercise ball, and having LOTS of mental health check ins. My husband and I are so blessed to have had Jesse with us through this crazy adventure of our first birth, but I know 100% that we will NOT be doing another one without a doula. Jesse’s presence brought so much peace to both of us and made this rough labor a much happier experience to look back on. Thank you Jesse for all you do for the mamas and I can’t wait to reach out again for our next birth 💕 I couldn’t recommend someone more than Jesse to have by your side!!!!
