We’re moving midway through the pregnancy to the DC region, Maryland side. I plan to give birth at GBMC Hospital and am hoping for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). I'm looking for a compassionate, experienced doula who is knowledgeable about supporting VBACs and can provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout labor. My goal is to have a positive, empowering birth experience. While I would like to labor naturally for as long as possible, I am open to pain management options, including an epidural, if needed. I value informed decision-making, clear communication, and having someone who can advocate for my birth preferences if unexpected situations arise. My estimated budget is to have doula services covered by my Anthem BCBS insurance, so I am looking for a doula who accepts insurance or can provide documentation for reimbursement.

Hospital birth with pain management but I panic easily and have anxiety

Our first baby is due October 19th and will be delivered in a hospital. I plan to have an epidural but would still like the support and knowledge of a doula to ease anxiety. Not sure of a budget right now.

I’m really nervous about labor and delivery. I want an epidural and am good with medical intervention. I’m nervous that my husband won’t be calm during the birthing process. I need someone who can help me be calm through it and help coach my husband through it. I also am nervous about being very vulnerable during birth and consent is very important for me and want to make sure I feel comfortable and not taken advantage of.
