Baptist Ochsner is where I plan on going to give birth. This will be my third pregnancy, first time seeking a doula. Trying to find support through labor. Trying to breastfeed for longer than six months. With my first two I stopped due to not producing enough and believe pumping made it worse. Might possibly want help cooking.

Hey heyyy, my name is Jessica. I need support (other than my husband) to help guide me through my first birthing process. I’ve always dreamed of having a home birth, but I’m a little nervous when it comes to me or my baby needing medical assistance. I don’t really have an estimated budget considering I’m a first time mom and I don’t have any experience with doulas. Whenever it’s time to give birth, I want to be as comfortable as possible. The number 1 thing I absolutely need is prayers. No bright lights, very calm and relaxing space, no extra people in the room (such as students), i don’t want to give birth on my back, i would love for my doula to massage me while im contracting, i do NOT want to be induced, I want to wait until the umbilical cord is WHITE before cutting, I want to be the first to touch my baby not the nurses, I also want to keep my placenta and let it come out on its own time just like my baby did.

I value someone who is patient, compassionate, reliable, and communicates well. Speaking English is required, and any additional language skills are a plus but not necessary. The care recipient will be a newborn infant. I am expecting my first baby, so I would appreciate someone who is experienced with newborn care, including feeding support, diaper changes, soothing, safe sleep practices, and monitoring the baby’s well-being. Additional duties may include washing baby bottles, light housekeeping related to the baby, baby laundry, keeping the nursery clean and organized, and helping establish a healthy sleep routine. Experience supporting first-time parents is highly preferred.
