Planning for unmedicated hospital vbac, hoping to use insurance

Let’s just say for right now I in the hospital my birth plan is to do unmedicated
I’d like to feel calm and stay while I’m in the hospital. I had a pretty rough postpartum due to pre-I want to have someone there that can think for me that knows what I want and advocate that for me while I focus on remaining calm
I plan to give birth at a hospital. My estimated budget is flexible, and I am looking for someone who offers quality care at a reasonable rate that works within my budget. My birth plan is to have a safe, healthy vaginal delivery if possible, with pain management available if I decide I need it. I would like a calm, supportive environment and someone who respects my birth preferences while prioritizing the health and safety of both me and my baby. I am looking for a provider who is certified, experienced in caring for newborns, and has several years of professional experience. I value someone who is patient, compassionate, reliable, and communicates well. Speaking English is required, and any additional language skills are a plus but not necessary. The care recipient will be a newborn infant. I am expecting my first baby, so I would appreciate someone who is experienced with newborn care, including feeding support, diaper changes, soothing, safe sleep practices, and monitoring the baby’s well-being. Additional duties may include washing baby bottles, light housekeeping related to the baby, baby laundry, keeping the nursery clean and organized, and helping establish a healthy sleep routine. Experience supporting first-time parents is highly preferred.
I am a first-time mom due in October 2026 and am planning a hospital birth in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My insurance covers doula services, so I am looking for a doula who accepts insurance or can work with my insurance benefits. I would like support during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. My birth plan includes getting an epidural for pain management, but I also want to incorporate natural and holistic comfort measures before and throughout labor whenever appropriate. I would love a doula who can guide me through breathing techniques, movement and positioning, massage, counter-pressure, relaxation techniques, laboring with a birth ball or peanut ball, hydrotherapy if available, and other evidence-informed comfort measures. I also appreciate education on safe homeopathic or natural remedies that are appropriate during pregnancy and postpartum. My goal is to have a calm, informed, and empowering birth experience while feeling supported and confident in every decision. I am also hoping for breastfeeding support after delivery and would love to work with someone who is experienced with first-time mothers, communicates well, and collaborates with my medical team to help me achieve the birth experience I envision.

2nd baby, attempting a natural birth in a hospital.
I plan to give birth at Tulane Lakeside hospital. My budget for doula services could be at least $1500 including insurance in network for birth experience. I would like my birthing experience to be vibrational (Hertz music) and calm atmosphere in preparation for birth. My OBGYN is older and well expert for labor and delivery. I will need emotional support and gentle care while in labor and would like to be giving the option to NOT lay on my back for labor (squat position or kneel position). Breast feeding is optional but preferred for baby to latch on.
