I will be giving birth at naval medical center Portsmouth, although I’d like to give birth at home I’m just not sure how to go about that. As for budget, I honestly have no clue what the average is for a doula, but I’m hoping to pay $2,000 or less. I would like to naturally deliver, I was induced with my first and had a bad experience and got an epidural, but I hated feeling like I was being told to push vs listening to my body. I’m much more aware of the birthing process due to this being my second child and I want to be more in control this time around.

I am delivering at Chesapeake General Hospital. I do not want an epidural. I want to be mobile during my labor and would like to be in an upright position while delivering, I would like for my son to be allowed to be part of my support group during labor (leave during delivery/when things get to be too much) then return post delivery. We plan on taking a class together so that he is as comfortable as possible. He wants to learn all the ways to be part of my labor support team. He is my biggest cheerleader in life. He wants to cut the umbilical cord. I would like to wait to cut the umbilical cord until it is white and all of the cord blood has been received by baby. I would love to be able to play music, classical helps me relax. I was not given many options with my labor/delivery with my son almost 11 years ago. It was the worst experience of my adult life. I want to be in control of my environment as much as possible and be encouraged to listen to my body and respond accordingly this time. I am strong, I know I am capable of delivering this baby as naturally as possible. As far as a budget goes I am not really sure where to start, this is all new to me.
