Our hope for a doula is someone who can help support us as we are going to try to give birth unmedicated and would like to avoid interventions if possible. However, #1 is, of course, whatever needs to happen to keep me and the baby safe is priority. Even if it goes against my preferences. We just want someone to help support my husband and I as this is our first child. As far as a lactation consultant, we were hoping for support with breast feeding once we are at home with the baby.

I am looking for a doula to support a hospital delivery at Avista in Louisville, CO around Feb 18, 2025. This will likely be a 39 week induction. I hope to try to minimize more damage to existing prolapse but also make sure baby is healthy. I have one living child who is 3 in October and several losses including a loss at 20 weeks in Dec 2023. Sadly our doula from first two deliveries has moved on from the field. We found her knowledge and advocacy extremely valuable.

I am planning to deliver at the Birth Center of Denver. This is my second baby, so I don't feel like I need as much education and support during pregnancy as I did with my last birth. However, I am nervous that I'm going to labor at home too long and end up having an accidental home birth. My last labor was 12 hours from the first contraction to having my baby in my arms, and I got to the birth center about an hour before I had the baby. So I'd like someone who is experienced with second-time labors that can provide guidance on when it's time to go. We don't really have a budget in mind. Probably under $3000 if possible. I would like to have an unmedicated water birth. The birth center does have a tub. With my first baby, I was pushing in the tub until my water broke and there was meconium in the water, so they required that I get out of the water and I finished pushing and delivered on a birth stool. If I could deliver this one in the water, that would be amazing. My ideal birth is just as little intervention as possible. I'm ok with a fundal check afterwards, but I don't want a fundal massage unless it's absolutely necessary. I'd like to labor at home as long as possible without accidentally delivering at home. I had a doula for my last birth, but she has since retired, which I just found out. I know February 11 is not very far away, but I'm hoping I still have time to find someone. I would like someone with a calming presence, who values an empowered birth experience.

Looking into doula services as a friend has recommended this to me. I’ll be giving birth at the hospital. My budget is around $1,000 but still exploring what insurance options might be available too. I’m leaning towards a birth with an epidural right now for pain management. I’d prefer just my partner to be in the room vs having other family members around. This will be my first birth too.
