Planning a home birth. Medicaid insurance to cover it

Delivering in NYU downtown Brooklyn hospital. I want to use my insurance benefits to pay for this. My birth plan is secure but I’m nervous about being freshly postpartum with two other kids at home and zero sleep. It really takes a toll on me (mom) and postpartum doula is what I’m specifically looking for.

I am a new mom. Single mom, pregnant through IVF. 42 years old.

I plan to give birth to twins at Cornell. I’m working on my birth plan, deciding between a planned C-section or attempting a natural birth. I have Anthem BCBS and would prefer someone in network.

Baby was born premature at 30 weeks, spent 6 weeks in the NICU. Dad works full time long hours/late nights and mom needs night care to help her get more sleep. We need help at night with feeding, changing, and monitoring the baby. Since she is a preemie she needs some one to constantly monitor her breathing and it’s difficult for us to do alone.

Plan to give birth in hospital, have no spousal support. Would rather have doula in room during birth process .. my parents, I’d like them to come in once the birth is complete and I’m covered, out of the respect of our culture, but I definitely would love support during that time.
