I am currently pregnant with my second child (a boy). My first delivery in short was a series of unfortunate events that ended in a c section. I would to try for a TOLAC/VBAC. My doctors have said I’m a great candidate for it. I plan on giving birth at Baystate in Springfield MA. I am have a lot of anxiety about my birth not only due to the last time but this time around there has been a lot of miss communication and I just don’t want to be worried about everyone being on the same page while trying to have a successful labor. While having an epidural isn’t out of the question or having other medical interventions isn’t out of the question I’d like to just let my body do its thing and labor naturally with alternative pain management methods. I honestly have zero idea what a doula even costs to even know what is reasonable, if it’s covered by insurance etc.

I would like to give birth at the hospital with the support of a doula, I would like to find a provider covered by Aetna PPO Plus and I am hoping for an unmedicated birth, without induction or epidural. I would like to wait for clamping the umbilical cord and for skin on skin contact. Looking for someone with experience who can give advice if something arises that doesn't match with my birth plan. I have gestational diabetes and I use insulin pre-meals I am 23 weeks and this is my first pregnancy.

Dear Pippa, My husband Sam and I are expecting our second child in mid September of this year. Sam will take off one week to ten days for paternity leave and then another week or so later in the year. We have a two year old son (Hugo) who will be in school from 8:30 to 1:30 Monday through Friday. My plan is to give birth at home unless medically necessary to be at a hospital. My out of pocket maximum would be around 4,000. I would like to have her receive as much nutrients from her cord as possible and delay clamping. Hi, I plan to give birth Katz Womens Hospital LIJ in New Hyde Park. My budget is 2,000. My husband and I currently live in Maine but are moving to Long Beach in April. we have a lot of things up in the air right now and switching OBs half way through pregnancy has me a little anxious. I dont think I will be able to build the relationship I would like with my OB / OB office in NY as much as I would like. So I would like to work with a doula before during and after birth to have some support and a familiar face during this process. This is my first pregnancy. I am currently doing a hypnobirthing course. I dont not have a full outline birth plan yet.
