About Patricia
Patricia Prime is a Registered Nurse, Certified Postpartum Doula, and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, as well as the owner of Prime BabyTime Consulting, where she provides postpartum doula and lactation support. She is also the founder of It Takes A Village – Maternal Health Expo, Inc., a nonprofit organization rooted in her ongoing work. It aims to recognize disparities, dismantle health inequities and improve maternal health outcomes. Patricia describes her work as the bridge between hospital and the home. She has a bachelor’s degree in Infant and Child Development, Bachelor of Nursing and an MBA with a Healthcare concentration. In March 2020, Patricia took a leap of faith and left her full-time position to pursue her passion for caring for postpartum mothers. She quickly recognized that many families were unfamiliar with the role of postpartum doulas and the critical importance of caring for mothers during the postpartum period. Today, she is recognized as a maternal health advocate in her community and continues her work to improve maternal health outcomes. Each April, Patricia hosts the It Takes A Village – Maternal Health Expo, which brings community organizations together to educate families about available maternal health resources. She also hosts Table Talks, smaller and more intimate events focused on issues surrounding maternal health. In 2026, Patricia hosted the first Black Maternal Health Conference at Fort Valley State University, which was met with strong support and interest from the community. For Patricia, this work is deeply personal. Her mother died just 21 days old after she was born, shaping her lifelong commitment to helping mothers survive, thrive, and remain present to care for their children.
