About me

Hi there! My name is Philippa Asherwood Jenkins and I'm the doula behind Bluegrass Birthways. Birth and babies are two things I've always been drawn to. As I've gone on to experience my own babies' births, my passion for informed choice in pregnancy and childbirth has grown dramatically. As a doula, I provide tailored support throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Through client-centered care, I aim to empower women to take control of their birth experience. My goal is to help you feel informed, confident and listened to every step of the way! When I'm not doulaing, I can be found helping on my family's farm or loving on my kiddos. My long term goal is to become a Certified Professional Midwife and support home birthing women in KY. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! Every woman deserves a doula. When is the best time to hire a doula?

Most families reach out during the first or second trimester, but I welcome inquiries at any point in pregnancy! Booking early ensures availability and gives us plenty of time to prepare for your hospital or home birth.

Do you attend home or hospital births?

BOTH! I have a very special place in my heart for home births but I absolutely attend hospital births as well!

What areas do you serve?

I am based in Paris, KY and will travel about an hour away (exceptions can be made). I urge you to reach out if you are unsure of whether or not I serve your area. If we are too far from each other, I would be happy to help you find another doula!

How does a birth doula support my partner if I have one?

I encourage partners to attend the prenatal visits if possible. My goal is for both you and your partner to feel confident and prepared. I offer simple comfort ideas, reassurance, and clear guidance so your partner can stay present and involved. We work together as a team to create a steady and supportive environment throughout your birth.
