I am located in Southern California in the Irvine area. My husband is in the military and is currently deployed. He most likely will not be able to be at the birth of our son. Because of that I will be giving birth in Napa California at Queen of the valley hospital. I have tricare and hope to get the doula services covered through my insurance. I am a first time mom so I do not currently have a birth plan per se so I am hoping the doula could help me. I am 24 years old and like I said this is my very first baby so anything helps.

Second baby, attempting vbac. Didn't have a doula with my first birth. Ended up being induced due to heart rate decelerations, labour progressed well but babe was struggling with contractions so moved to c section. I really felt like I missed out on a physiological birth, and I've been told by my OB that I'm likely a good candidate for a vbac. Currently 33 weeks, IVF pregnancy.

I want to follow my body’s cues for positioning, including side-lying, hands-and-knees, swaying, standing, or other positions that feel natural. I would like to drink fluids during labor when medically appropriate. No routine IV unless medically necessary. Wireless monitoring is strongly preferred when fetal monitoring is necessary and available. I want to allow my body to birth Isabella naturally and push according to my body’s instincts and coaching from my doula. Immediate chest-to-chest skin-to-skin. Uninterrupted bonding time for as long as we are comfortable. Allow Isabella the opportunity to self-latch and initiate breastfeeding while chest-to-chest. Delay routine weighing, measurements, medications, and other nonurgent newborn care until after our bonding time. Delayed cord clamping until the cord has stopped pulsating and appears white, when medically appropriate. My goal is exclusive breastfeeding. Requirements would be that they are certified and covered by Tricare. My insurance is Tricare West Region. TRICARE covers up to six hours of visits by a certified labor doula. These hours can be split into 15-minute increments any way you’d like. You also get one untimed visit during birth.

Someone who is experienced in birth support, and who feels capable of holding the most sacred, steady energy with me to birth in a hospital, which is not my first choice but is supported by my doctor and midwives I asked because I have ITP (low platelets) and they both feel birthing in hospital is safest. I'm a sensitive and strong person, I want the least amount of intervention possible, and I thrive with caring, steady support. I am hoping to work through Kaiser insurance for at least partial coverage.
