This is our second baby. We also have a three year old son who goes to preschool in the morning. Through Carrot we have a benefit of $15,000 that we can use before December 5. We are looking for a mix of daytime and nighttime support, ideally with the same person but also open to different people. Start date would ideally be the week of October 5 and then the last week would be the week of November 30.
1. I plan to give birth at CPMC Hospital in San Francisco 2. I don’t know how much things cost so interested in learning the pricing of doula services 3. I don’t have a birth plan yet. I would like to work with a Doula to help me on this.
First baby, giving birth at UCSF Mission Bay in San Francisco. Looking for a birth doula to support my partner and I. Hoping to have an unmediated birth but very open to that changing depending on the circumstances. I live in the South West of SF. My husband needs to double check his work’s doula benefit so I’m not sure on our budget, happy to pay some out of pocket, but we’d like to pre-pay for our doula service, ideally in the next couple of weeks.
We are still determining the exact level of support we are looking for. We plan to give birth in a hospital in San Francisco. Our primary search is for post-birth overnight support, which would include support for the mom and care for the baby, including feeding, settling, changing, and any associated cleaning. It is important to us to get detailed updates on how the baby did overnight. We want to make sure that the person providing the support fits well into our home. We would expect we need this support 4-5 nights per week for 10-16 weeks, and would seek to get support on sleep conditioning over that period of time. We are also evaluating if a birth doula is something that we want but have not yet decided on that.
• Certification: Postpartum Doula certification (e.g., DONA or equivalent), infant CPR certification, optional: specialized Lactation Support training (CLC or equivalent). • Experience: Ideally 5+ years of experience working with first month newborns • Languages: English and/or mandarin • Primary Focus: recovery care, newborn care education, sleep training, lactation guidance and establishing a feeding routine. • Schedule: We are currently undecided between daytime and overnight support and are open to the provider’s recommendation for the first 4 weeks. • Budget: seeking quotes for both hourly and package options
Second baby, highly medicalized labor and delivery with my first, hoping for a natural labor and delivery with my second but am in need of someone who can help guide my labor by suggesting positions, advocating for me, and helping me achieve a more natural birth experience.
I want to do a water birth. On the cheaper side Birth Plan: Baby & Mom Stay Connected My Birth Philosophy I want my birth experience to be calm, respectful, and centered around keeping my baby and me together as much as safely possible. I value informed consent, gentle care, skin-to-skin bonding, and a peaceful environment. I understand birth can be unpredictable, and my priority is a healthy baby and healthy mother. If interventions become medically necessary, I would like explanations of the benefits, risks, and alternatives before decisions are made whenever possible. ⸻ Labor Preferences ☐ I would like a calm, low-intervention birth environment. ☐ Please ask for my consent before exams, procedures, medications, or interventions. ☐ I prefer minimal vaginal exams unless medically necessary. ☐ I would like freedom to move, change positions, use a birth ball, shower, or tub if available. ☐ I prefer intermittent monitoring when appropriate rather than continuous monitoring unless medically indicated. ☐ I would like my support person involved in helping me stay comfortable and informed. ☐ I prefer natural pain coping methods first: * Breathing techniques * Movement/position changes * Massage/counter pressure * Water therapy * Quiet environment ☐ If pain medication or interventions are recommended, please discuss options with me. ⸻ Water Birth / Hydrotherapy Preferences ☐ I would like access to a labor tub or shower if available. ☐ If I qualify and it is safe, I would like the option of a water birth. ☐ I would like the room kept calm with dim lighting and minimal interruptions when possible. ⸻ Medications & Interventions ☐ I prefer to avoid routine interventions unless medically necessary. ☐ Please discuss before: * Pitocin/oxytocin * Breaking my water * Episiotomy * Assisted delivery * Cesarean section ⸻ Baby’s Arrival My goal is immediate bonding. ☐ Immediate skin-to-skin after birth. ☐ Delay weighing/measuring until after initial bonding when medically appropriate. ☐ Keep baby with me as much as possible (“rooming in”). ☐ Partner/support person may accompany baby if baby needs to leave the room. ☐ I prefer breastfeeding/chestfeeding support before offering supplementation. ☐ I would like help with the first latch when possible. ⸻ Newborn Care Preferences Please discuss newborn procedures with me before they are performed whenever possible. Questions I would like answered: * What is the purpose of each screening? * What are the benefits and risks? * What are the alternatives? * What happens if we delay? Preferences: ☐ I would like to be present for newborn procedures. ☐ I prefer my baby not be separated from me unless medically necessary. ☐ I would like to discuss newborn medications, screenings, and vaccines with my provider and make informed decisions. ⸻ Visitors & Environment ☐ Quiet room with limited visitors. ☐ Only people I personally approve may visit. ☐ Please allow time for bonding before visitors. ☐ My support person is my advocate and should be included in communication. ⸻ If Cesarean Birth Becomes Necessary If a C-section becomes necessary: ☐ I would like my support person present. ☐ I would like skin-to-skin as soon as safely possible. ☐ I would like baby kept with me whenever possible. ☐ I would like gentle/Cesarean options discussed if available. ⸻ My Reminder to My Care Team I appreciate your expertise and want to work together. My goal is a safe birth while protecting the bonding experience between me and my baby. Please communicate with kindness, patience, and respect. Mom’s Signature: ____________________ Date: ____________________ Provider Acknowledgment: ____________________ Pitocin/Oxytocin Preference I decline Pitocin (oxytocin) unless there is a true medical emergency where my life or my baby’s life is at risk. I prefer my labor to progress naturally and do not consent to routine Pitocin use for: * Induction of labor * Speeding up labor * Strengthening contractions * Routine postpartum use without discussion If Pitocin is being considered, I request: * A clear explanation of the medical reason * Risks and benefits explained * Alternatives discussed * Time to ask questions and make an informed decision whenever possible My goal is a physiologic birth with minimal unnecessary intervention while prioritizing safety for both me and my baby.
Sutter Davis Unsure about budget Ideally natural water birth
First baby in South San Francisco. Looking for an experienced elderly Doula. Preferably 45+. To help me three days a week with nighttime feedings. Who accepts my insurance Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal?
UCSF is my labor location, I dont have a birth plan, budget is 2500
I want a home birth, and I need someone to help support me through my birth. My budget is 800-1,500. I want to have a unmediated birth and to wait to cut the cord when it’s white, and no vaccines
I have Anthem Blue Cross PPO. I am having a planned C Section and looking for post partem doula support because my partner may be unavailable, taking care of of our elder child. During my last c section, i needed a lot of support, so hoping to get help for a couple of weeks
I am located in Southern California in the Irvine area. My husband is in the military and is currently deployed. He most likely will not be able to be at the birth of our son. Because of that I will be giving birth in Napa California at Queen of the valley hospital. I have tricare and hope to get the doula services covered through my insurance. I am a first time mom so I do not currently have a birth plan per se so I am hoping the doula could help me. I am 24 years old and like I said this is my very first baby so anything helps.
hospital birth. not sure about budget. I would like to do a vaginal birth without medication. blue shield PPO. I am about 7 weeks pregnant. I have anxiety and need emotional/mental support
We are first-time parents expecting a baby girl via a planned C-section at Stanford on September 16. We live in San Bruno and are looking for an experienced postpartum doula or newborn care specialist to begin after we return from the hospital. Our priority is overnight support for approximately 8–12 hours per night, ideally 5–7 nights per week for the first 2–4 weeks, with flexibility to extend. We need help with feeding, burping, diaper changes, soothing, swaddling, bottle and pump-part cleaning, and tracking the baby’s feeding and sleep. We would especially value someone trained in lactation support who can assist with breastfeeding, latch, positioning, pumping, and recognizing when an IBCLC should be consulted. Experience supporting C-section recovery is also important. The provider must communicate comfortably in English and have strong newborn experience. Postpartum doula or newborn-care training, infant CPR/First Aid, excellent references, and knowledge of current safe-sleep practices are strongly preferred. We want responsive newborn care and healthy sleep foundations—not “cry it out” or formal sleep training during the newborn stage.
I’m located in Mountainhouse California. I have an 11 month old when I will have a newborn on October 1. I’ll be having a C-section so I need support in general postpartum with my recovery with a newborn
My baby 3 hours insurance coverage do laundry help me
This is our first baby, so having a calm, supportive, and positive birth experience is especially important to us. We will be delivering at Stanford Tri-Valley and would love a doula who is familiar with the hospital and its policies. We want someone who can help us feel informed and confident, support our preferences, and provide emotional and practical guidance throughout labor. We also value someone who is reassuring, responsive, experienced, and supportive of both the mother and partner. After birth, we would appreciate guidance with recovery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and adjusting to life as first-time parents. Insurance provider is Alameda alliance
Where do you plan to give birth (home/hospital)? Hospital - Mills Peninsula Burlingame (but stay home as long as possible because I hear going to hospital too early results in more complications) Provide your estimated budget $2000-$2500 Describe your birth plan I don't have a fully fleshed out one yet and need some help crafting it if the birth doula can help. I want vaginal birth as much as possible unless there are absolute necessary conditions/complications that require a C-section. I don't want induction unless it's absolutely necessary. I want an epidural and also open to try other pain relieving methods but that doesn't mean I don't want epidural.
Hi! Nice to meet you! My name is Camille and I am 17 weeks and a change along my pregnancy journey. I am due February 23, 2027 and am exploring doula support through doulas who work with Kaiser.
