About me
I am Rafaela, a Certified Postpartum Doula through NAPS and a graduate of DONA International–approved Postpartum Doula training. I am also a Birth Doula trained through the Becoming a Birth Doula program with Carrie Kenner and a Newborn Care Provider. I am based in Kirkland, Washington, and provide compassionate, respectful, and hands-on support to families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, helping parents feel confident and supported during one of the most meaningful transitions in their lives. I hold a Technical Degree in Nursing from Brazil, earned in 2010, with more than 2,090 hours of combined theoretical and clinical training. While this is not a U.S. nursing license, it provides a strong clinical foundation for the care and support I offer families. Throughout my professional career, I have gained extensive experience in maternal and newborn care, including supporting pregnant women, newborns, premature infants, and babies requiring specialized care. I bring seven years of hands-on experience working in a maternity hospital in Brazil, where I supported mothers during labor and provided direct care for newborns, including premature infants and babies in the NICU. This experience has given me extensive knowledge in supporting families with newborns who require specialized care. I offer both daytime and overnight support for newborns, premature infants, and their families during the postpartum period. My services include evidence-based newborn care, emotional support for parents, infant feeding guidance, healthy sleep foundations, and practical assistance to help families feel confident and well supported as they adjust to life with a new baby. Families often describe me as reliable, calm, and attentive. I strive to create a warm, organized, and judgment-free environment where families feel supported and confident in their routines while following current American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations for safe sleep and newborn care. I am fully vaccinated, have excellent references, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation. With 7 years of hospital experience as a nurse technician in maternity care, I bring strong expertise in newborn care to help parents feel more confident and secure. I support families so they can rest during both day and night, and provide guidance on feeding, routines, and gentle sleep when the baby is ready.

More recently, Rafaela reached out to let us know she became a doula and asked if we would feel ok sharing our experience. I didn’t even think twice. About five years ago when our son was born, we went through a really hard time as a family. My wife had postpartum depression and I was honestly very scared I wouldn’t be able to handle everything on my own. About a week after the baby was born, we realized we needed help, and that’s when we met Rafaela. At that time, she was already helping families with newborn care because of her nursing background, so she had a lot of experience even before becoming a doula. She helped us during the day and also overnight, and gave support to my wife during a very sensitive time. What really stands out is how genuine she is. She cared for our baby with so much love and patience, you could really feel it. Because of my wife’s situation, we used formula, and Rafaela helped us with that with no judgment, just support. She really became part of our family. She was there through everything, even came to our son’s first birthday. Even now, we still keep in touch and always recommend her to friends and families in our Bellevue community. We are very thankful for everything she did for us.
