Hi, I’m Melanie Powell—certified doula, childbirth educator, author of From Fear to First Cry, and the founder of both Little Flower Birth Services and the non-profit Under His Wings Collective. As a mother myself, I know firsthand that bringing a child into the world is one of the most profound, transformative journeys you will ever take. But I also know it can bring up deep questions, past fears, and medical anxieties. That is why my life’s work is dedicated to walking beside women and their partners, ensuring you never have to navigate the medical landscape alone. Through Little Flower Birth Services, my practice is rooted in three core pillars: Advocacy to help your partner step into their role as your protector, Sanctuary to guard your peace with a protective "Baby Bubble," and Autonomy to honor your God-given intuition through a trauma-informed framework. Whether I'm teaching evidence-based physiological birth classes, coaching partners in our signature advocacy workshops, or offering quiet, steadfast support in the delivery room, my goal is to transform your anxieties into your greatest strengths. Beyond my private practice, my heart for community led me to establish Under His Wings Collective—a non-profit initiative dedicated to expanding access to sliding-scale and free childbirth education, alongside trauma-informed virtual doula support (such as our Virtual Bloom Package) for Medicaid-eligible, low-income, and high-anxiety mothers who deserve dedicated care regardless of circumstance. When I’m not supporting families across the DFW Metroplex, leading virtual education cohorts, or advocating through the collective, you can usually find me baking something nourishing for loved ones or cherishing quiet moments with my daughter. You deserve to enter your birth room feeling strong, informed, and deeply supported. I would be honored to walk this sacred journey with you.

What made us choose Melanie as our birth doula for our first birth experience was the fact that she was Catholic and she offered a lot in her birth package. She was extremely helpful all throughout my pregnancy, especially on the day of my delivery. She helped us map out a birth plan and she did a great job educating us. During my labor, Melanie coached me through exercises she prepped us with to deal with the contractions. After I got my epidural, I was still experiencing pain on my right side. Melanie spent hours lightly shaking the area to get my daughter to move. It really helped me deal with the pain. She also helped the nurse with getting my daughter to turn face down to prepare for birth. Melanie offered me the comfort and support I needed in the last hours of my labor. Because of her support, my husband was able to get some extra sleep so he could be present with me and available post-birth. I would strongly recommend Melanie as a doula.

I was extremely anxious during my second pregnancy after having a miscarriage during my first. I didn’t know what to do and had many questions with just about everything. Cheyenne was very patient, friendly, and professional. She answered about every question I had and provided me with great support. I was about to relax a little bit with her around. I will definitely work with her again the next time around.

Makita is very professional caregiver for new borns and babies. She had been a great help for my family when my baby was 4 month old. She is proactive, patient and knowledgable in her field, and even identified early signs of torticollis in my baby. She was the only one that I could trust with my baby alone. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs professional and reliable care support.

Plain and simple: I love all things pregnancy! After working in the music industry for nearly ten years, I experienced a deep and abrupt shift in my life trajectory upon becoming pregnant. Prior to my pregnancy, I had already declared my path of Maternal & Neonatal Health in my DrPH program, but experiencing the true miracle we call life confirmed that Maternal & Neonatal Health are in fact a huge part of my purpose, even so much so that I was willing to partially cut ties with the music business to fulfill this duty. That’s why and how I’m here for you today — I truly believe I was called to do this work. I’ve always had an interest in the unknowns of pregnancy. I was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and have lived my life with a star-shaped G-tube patch and midline incision scar that represent the intersectionality of pregnancy, what can go wrong and how we can fix it. And upon marrying my husband, a heart transplant recipient, I became even more enthralled by the specialty of disease prevention in infants. Many wonder why I took the DrPH path as opposed to a traditional MD degree, and the truth is that nothing I’ve ever done in my life was conventional. It is my belief that addressing Maternal & Neonatal Health issues from the standpoint of public health practice is not only effective, but is also fulfilling. As a public health practitioner, I address the risks and patterns of pregnancy complications as a population-wide problem. I’m not a medical doctor because I am not interested in treating these conditions: I am a public health doctor because I am committed to preventing them altogether.

Hi, I’m Nicolette Meinert, the founder of Family In Bloom. I have worked with children and families since 1997, when I completed my first American Red Cross babysitting course. My path in early childhood care began in Wakefield, Massachusetts, where I volunteered in summer-school and after-school programs while attending Galvin Middle School. I went on to study Early Childhood Education at Wakefield Memorial High School. Since graduating in 2004, I have worked as an infant, toddler, and preschool teacher and as a full-time nanny, caring for children at many stages of development. I bring nearly three decades of experience, a calm presence, and deep respect for the trust families place in me. Newborn & Family Care My greatest passion is supporting families during the newborn stage and helping parents feel more confident as they adjust to life with a baby. Through Family In Bloom, I provide overnight infant care, postpartum support, newborn-care guidance, and thoughtful care tailored to each family’s routines, values, and needs. I have cared for several sets of twins and understand the distinct needs of multiples and the practical support their families often need. Whether you are welcoming your first baby, growing your family, or navigating a more complex newborn experience, my goal is to offer dependable, compassionate, and safety-centered support. Specialized Infant Experience I hold a special place in my heart for medically complex and premature newborns. My experience includes supporting infants with NG tubes, G tubes, and oxygen needs, as well as premature babies born as early as 30 weeks’ gestation. My commitment to this work grew while caring for premature twins who were born at 30 weeks’ gestation. That experience reinforced my belief that families caring for babies who need extra support deserve skilled, steady, and compassionate care. I work within my role and collaborate respectfully with each family’s established medical team and care plan. Safety-Centered Support Safety is a central part of my work. As an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor Trainer and Child Passenger Safety Technician, I enjoy helping families build practical skills and confidence around everyday safety. My approach combines continued education, careful attention to each child, and support that feels encouraging rather than overwhelming. Education, Training & Certifications My education and professional development include training and certification in: Early Childhood & Family Care - Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care infant, toddler, and preschool teacher - CAPPA Postpartum Doula - Newborn Care Solutions Newborn Care Specialist - Infant and Child Training Academy Multiples Care Specialist Infant Safety & Wellness - Safe Kids Child Passenger Safety Technician - Safe Sleep Ambassador - American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor Trainer - Medication Technician Feeding & Specialized Infant Support - Infant Feeding Technician - Pediatric Tube Feeding - Oral Ties - Infant Mental Health - SleepWonders Integrative Course for Professionals

I first reached out to Nicolette about 5 years ago after seeing her post about a car seat event locally. We were transitioning our 5 year old out of a 5 point harness to a booster seat. Because of other medical issues we had questions whether or not a safe ride vest was needed or if a full back booster would be enough. Although she did not know too much when I reached out about the safe ride vest Nicolette went above and beyond to make sure that at the event herself and an officer were knowledgeable and prepared. She was thorough on answering all of our questions, and she followed up with us after the event to see how the transition into a new seat went! Since then we have reached out for a new infant carseat installation check and to answer just a few quick questions about laws and regulations here in the state of MA! I would highly recommend if you have questions, concerns, or just want to learn more about car safety for your little ones you reach out to her!
