I am looking for a doula that can help prioritize my birth plan and focus on my needs during the birth, while the OB focuses on the baby. I would really like to give birth vaginally and am looking for someone who values modern medicine but can also help keep things as natural as possible if it is safe. I’m looking for someone who will advocate for me when things get crazy in the delivery room and who is willing to coach me through labor and help support my husband in supporting me. I am currently hoping to give birth un medicated, but I am open minded as I have never experienced labor before. I know I will want delayed cord cutting and breastmilk only. I would also like to learn about different birth positions and reduce the risk of tearing and as natural as possible birth if the placenta.

I value informed consent and would like all procedures, interventions, and newborn care options explained before decisions are made whenever possible. My goal is a low-intervention birth with freedom to move during labor, use natural comfort measures, minimal cervical checks when appropriate, delayed cord clamping, immediate skin-to-skin contact, and uninterrupted bonding time after birth. I would prefer to avoid induction solely for convenience or to speed up labor and do not want to feel pressured into a cesarean birth unless it is medically necessary. I would also like time to discuss and make informed decisions regarding newborn procedures and injections, rather than having them performed immediately after birth.
