My plan is spontaneous labor sometime before 41w5d (provider said this was best). And I plan to labor at home as long as possible, transferring to the hospital just before active labor. I am looking for a birth and postpartum doula that is covered by Kaiser insurance, who is very knowledgeable about the birth process, potential complications and newborn care, who is open to attending hospitals births. I am planning to give birth at Kaiser South Bay Harbor City. I would like to labor at home with my partner and the doula for as long as possible until it’s time to go to the hospital. I am open to an epidural at the hospital but if I’m doing okay or labor is progressing quickly I am open to not getting one. I hope for an uncomplicated vaginal birth. I’d like the doula to know the difference between interventions that might be offered to me at the hospital that are not necessary and what is necessary/ will help my baby to be born healthy. I’d like a certified doula with multiple years experience, age 38+ or older. I am 38 years old, first pregnancy, have a very supportive partner, and hope to breastfeed.

We are deciding whether or not we want to deliver at home or in a hospital but I would like a doula who is muslim or african american and culturally sensitive to my faith.
