Second baby, attempting vbac. Didn't have a doula with my first birth. Ended up being induced due to heart rate decelerations, labour progressed well but babe was struggling with contractions so moved to c section. I really felt like I missed out on a physiological birth, and I've been told by my OB that I'm likely a good candidate for a vbac. Currently 33 weeks, IVF pregnancy.

We are still determining the exact level of support we are looking for. We plan to give birth in a hospital in San Francisco. Our primary search is for post-birth overnight support, which would include support for the mom and care for the baby, including feeding, settling, changing, and any associated cleaning. It is important to us to get detailed updates on how the baby did overnight. We want to make sure that the person providing the support fits well into our home. We would expect we need this support 4-5 nights per week for 10-16 weeks, and would seek to get support on sleep conditioning over that period of time. We are also evaluating if a birth doula is something that we want but have not yet decided on that.

I am located in Southern California in the Irvine area. My husband is in the military and is currently deployed. He most likely will not be able to be at the birth of our son. Because of that I will be giving birth in Napa California at Queen of the valley hospital. I have tricare and hope to get the doula services covered through my insurance. This is my first pregnancy, and I am planning a hospital birth in the Bay Area. I am looking for a birth doula who can educate my husband and me about our options and help me develop a birth plan based on my goals and circumstances. I have not yet decided whether I want an epidural or an unmedicated birth, so I would like someone who provides balanced, evidence-based information without pushing one particular type of birth. During labor, I would like support with breathing, relaxation, movement, different labor and pushing positions, massage, counterpressure, and other comfort techniques. I also want someone who will actively involve my husband, teach him how to support me, and help both of us remain calm and understand what is happening. It would be helpful if the doula offered prenatal meetings to practice labor positions and comfort techniques and discuss interventions such as induction, epidurals, assisted delivery, and Cesarean birth. Experience supporting hospital births, inductions, epidurals, unmedicated labor, and unexpected changes is important to me. I am also interested in pregnancy-safe exercises and pelvic-floor and birth preparation. Please let me know if this is part of your training and services, or if you collaborate with a pelvic-floor physical therapist. I am looking for someone warm, practical, nonjudgmental, and comfortable helping me ask questions and communicate my preferences to the medical team while remaining flexible if the safest plan changes.

Twin girls with scheduled C-Section at 37 weeks due around 10/20/26 (always a possibility that they may debut earlier). We (my husband and I) are looking for a night doula to help with night feedings/care for 4-5 nights/week for the first 8 weeks the girls are home (possibly will extend longer than 8 weeks). We have a 4 year old son as well, who is in preschool from 9-5:30pm 5 days per week, and my mother (who is a retired nicu nurse and lactation consultant) will likely be staying with us for at least a week or two to help during the day. I do not plan to exclusively breastfeed, and the girls will be getting primarily formula (and/or pumped milk) at night. Our house has the ideal set up, with the bedrooms all located in the back of the house (can be closed off with pocket door), leaving the whole front of the house (kitchen, laundry room, living room/tv room x2, private bathroom x2, and office/den which can be closed off) for the doula and the girls at night (plan to set up bassinets with changing table). We live in Walnut Creek, around 2 miles from downtown, up in the hills past the Bart Station in an area called “secluded valley” (which is right on the border of WC and lafayette, with most of our HOA and neighboring streets technically being in Lafayette). Price wise, we were hoping to keep the total cost around $2,000-2,500 per week (for 4-5 nights/week, shifts 8-10 hours/night, for at least 8 weeks immediately after birth), which is where the flexibility comes in the number of nights and shift length. Basically trying to keep our sanity, and allocate time for everyone to get much needed sleep when the girls arrive home. I will also be recovering from c-section during this time, and will need the extra rest.
