About me

My name is Sandra Omoye Akhareyi. I’m a mother, daughter, sister, birth worker, and student midwife. The name of my business is called Esan doula services, LLC where we provide support and evidence-based education to marginalized folks. Services include birth and postpartum support focused on individualized holistic care. I have a background in working within the healthcare system for close to 14 years in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, and at-home care. My titles include RMA/CMA, CPCT, Certified Full Spectrum Doula, WIC peer counselor, Parenting Journey Facilitator, Certified ROSE Interventionist, Certified Placenta Encapsulation Professional, Traditional Birth Assistant, RYT, and BLS/NRP, provider. I came into birth work by the way of a traditional midwife within my community and with the experience/knowledge of giving birth to my daughter. It was through training being offered, that I accepted the call to serve women/birthing individuals. I was intrigued to learn more about breast/chest/human feeding, parent engagement, and pregnancy disorders. I believe having a multi-facet background as such has equipped me to be the birth worker that the different communities that I serve need. Growing up, I found joy in taking care of others. Whether that was babysitting the neighborhood kids or taking care of my elders. Being Afro-Indigenous (bloodline includes: Nigerian, Cuban, and Irish) I was raised in a way of “it takes a village.” Meaning, the community joined forces to help one \another in whatever capacity. It’s in my lineage to serve and I’m so happy that my journey in life has led me to midwifery (define as to serve women).

Sandra is a dream to work with. I hired her as a lactation consultant after getting to work with her as a midwife consultant at my home birth. In both scenarios, Sandra was a godsend. She is professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Her advice and resources a lactation consultant were so helpful for us. It's only been a few hours but our feeding since she was here last has been our best one yet. I'd definitely hire her again and would recommend her to anyone needing birth or lactation support! Five stars ??????????

I had the pleasure of connecting with Sandra early on in my pregnancy. Sandra was always friendly, knowledgeable, and resourceful. My husband and I found her positivity to be exactly what we needed in a doula to help us navigate being first time parents. We felt empowered during our labor experience. It was a blessing to have Sandra during the postpartum period, which to us was the most challenging aspect of childbearing. I have Sandra to thank for her timely recommendations in asking for help during the postpartum period and for reminding us to give ourselves some grace throughout this journey of parenthood. I highly recommend having Sandra as your child birth educator, child wearing champion, and breastfeeding cheerleader. With gratitude, Frances, Mitchell, y Agustín
