About me

I am a doula in Columbus, Ohio and I believe expecting parents should feel empowered and confident throughout pregnancy, during birth and postpartum. Childbirth should bring out your highest self and you should feel informed and optimistic throughout your journey! I was called to birthwork for this reason.

Service introduction

I offer three prenatal visits, we will create a custom birth plan unique to YOU, pregnancy and birth support (emotional, physical and informational), bi-weekly wellness calls, I'm on call as long as I am awake and able to answer, if I'm not i will return the call ASAP. I also provide affirmation sessions and photos of your newborn in the birthing environment and postpartum photos.

The Original Plan

- 3 prenatal visits (2-3 hours each) at your home or place of preference wherein we will discuss a birthing preference plan, your medical history, any concerns you may have, and comfort measures for labor and childbirth. We will also practice breathwork and positions, affirmations, and prenatal stretching/yoga (if desired). -Bi-weekly wellness calls -Access to tools used as comfort measures during pregnancy, labor, and childbirth. -Birth attendance/support. It is usually ideal for the birthing person to have someone to support them at ALL times during labor and birth. -One post-partum visit (1-4 hours) for lactation support, to check in on the birthing person and the baby ,to review the birth and to take photos if desired. I will also bring a meal with me for the family and help out with light housework if needed. - 24/7 support via phone call or text message during pregnancy and two weeks post-partum - Access to my collection of materials such as books and articles -Photos of newborn in birthing environment - Custom affirmation cards to use during and after pregnancy

Birth Plan Support

If you aren’t looking for full-on birth doula support in person but need some guidance, this is an excellent option! I believe that every birthing person should have a birth preference plan. This will act as a guide for medical personnel/ anyone present for your birth, and once this work is done, it also creates a template for future conversations with providers, family and friends. One of the most common things I hear after this service is something like “Wow, I never even would have thought of half of the stuff we covered on my own” All you need to have in preparation for this visit is the desire for a comprehensive birth plan! This service usually looks like a flowing conversation, unlike other templates or guides that might feel more like homework. I will explain all of your options for each choice you make without any biases. You DESERVE for your preferences to be recognized and respected!! This is vital in order for that to happen. I want to help make sure you feel secure, comfortable, and heard in your birthing space. We will make two versions of this birth plan, one of them being very detailed, so make sure you clear up at least 2 hours for this appointment.

Frequently asked questions

If my partner will be with me for childbirth, why would I hire a doula?

As your doula, I will be there to support both you and your partner. Especialy for first-time births, it is incredibly difficult to prepare and execute comfort measures and other techniques when the birthing person is in active labor, without additional support. I am a trained professional and part of my job is to “train” the birthing partner on how to handle pregnancy, labor and childbirth.

What makes New Soul different than other services?

My approach to pregnancy, labor and childbirth will be unique to each client I take on. I do my best to provide unbiased care, I am not here to judge your decisions. I focus a lot on mental health during pregnancy as it can be such a trying period of time for anybody. CONFIDENCE IS KEY when it comes to childbirth, so I want to spend a lot of time instilling that confidence into the birthing person. I study energy healing, so I will be able to go through some excersizes and we can try different techniques you can use throughout your pregnancy, childbirth and for the rest of your life!

What if I end up having a cesarian?

My goal is to minimize the chance of a cesarian, but if that is ultimately what ends up happenning, I support all kinds of birth! Whether the C-section is planned or emergency, I will support you emotionally, physically and provide you with any information that may be beneficial to you. In the case of a cesarian, I will be as present as allowed by medical staff. Ask your Dr. what the hospital's policies are when it comes to who is allowed to accompany you in the O.R.. If I am allowed to be there, I definitely will!

Do you hold any opinions that might affect my care?

I believe that every individual has biases. Unbiased care is the goal for doulas, but as individuals, of course we have opinions. Your satisfaction with your birth is very important to me as a doula and I hold no biases that would affect my determination to make sure you are as satisfied, safe, informed, and supported as possible during pregnancy, childbirth, and post-partum.
