About Shirley

I’m Shirley, a certified birth and postpartum doula, and I believe support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum should feel like having someone in your corner who helps you breathe a little easier. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out to me. You can ask the questions you think you should already know the answers to, change your mind about what you want, or simply say, “I don’t know.” My role is to meet you where you are, help you understand your options, and support the choices that feel right for you and your family—without judgment. I bring a calm, practical presence to birth and postpartum support. Whether we’re preparing for labor, working through birth preferences, figuring out feeding, caring for your newborn, or navigating those first weeks at home, I want you to feel heard, respected, prepared, and never alone in figuring out what comes next. I’m especially passionate about birth preparation, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and feeding support. I also provide support in English and Haitian Creole, so families can communicate and receive support in the language that feels most comfortable to them. Most of all, I want our time together to feel like a safe place to exhale, ask questions, learn, and grow into your own confidence as a parent.

Birth Doula Support

Personalized support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the early postpartum transition. Includes: • 2 prenatal in-person visits • Personalized birth-preference planning and preparation • Weekly check-ins beginning at 36 weeks • On-call availability from 38–42 weeks • Continuous in-person labor and birth support • Comfort measures, positioning, emotional support, and advocacy support during labor • Immediate postpartum support after birth • 1 postpartum follow-up visit within 2–3 weeks after birth

Postpartum Doula Support

Personalized in-home support designed to help you recover, adjust, and feel more confident during the early postpartum period. Includes: • Postpartum recovery and comfort support • Newborn-care guidance and education • Feeding support within doula scope • Emotional support and a listening ear • Light meal and snack preparation • Light household support related to parent and baby • Assistance establishing practical newborn and postpartum routines • Partner and family guidance during the transition • Community resources and referrals when additional support is needed $45/hour — 3-hour minimum

Overnight Postpartum & Newborn Support

Overnight support designed to give parents an opportunity to rest while receiving attentive support for their newborn during the night. Includes: • Overnight newborn support while parents rest • Support with feeding routines • Bottle preparation and cleaning of feeding supplies as needed • Diapering, soothing, burping, and settling baby • Bringing baby to the parent for feeding when desired • Support with settling baby after feedings • Light newborn-related tidying during the shift • Guidance on newborn sleep and feeding cues • Emotional and practical postpartum support as needed $45/hour — 7-hour minimum

I provide compassionate birth and postpartum doula support tailored to each family’s needs. Services may include prenatal preparation, labor and birth support, postpartum care, newborn care, overnight support, breastfeeding encouragement, and virtual guidance. My goal is to help families feel informed, supported, and more confident throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period.

What areas do you serve?

I provide in-person support within my listed service radius. Virtual pregnancy and postpartum support is available regardless of location.

What happens during a consultation?

We discuss your needs, preferences, expected due date or postpartum stage, the type of support you are looking for, and whether my services are a good fit for your family.

Do you offer overnight support?

Yes. Overnight postpartum and newborn support is available with a 7-hour minimum and may include feeding support, soothing, diapering, settling, and helping parents maximize rest.

Do you provide breastfeeding support?

Yes. I provide non-clinical breastfeeding encouragement, education, and practical support within my doula scope. If a concern requires clinical lactation care, I will encourage you to connect with an appropriately credentialed lactation professional.

How often do you check in between visits?

Check-in frequency depends on the service selected. Birth clients receive scheduled prenatal check-ins, while postpartum and overnight clients receive brief check-ins as outlined in their package. Additional visits or sessions can be scheduled separately based on availability.
