My name is Jessica and I am a certified Birth/Postpartum Doula and Placenta Specialist located in Syracuse, NY. My passion is pregnancy and birth. My own pregnancies drew me into birth work. I am a mom of 5, one being in heaven. My children are between 8 and 15 years old, 2 boys and 2 girls. Three are heavily involved in sports (baseball and hockey) and one loves theater and art. People ask how I fit it all in? I make it work. I love this work and it brings me joy in helping other families. I want to help create a better birth/postpartum period with compassionate care for my families. I have been a doula since 2021 and have attended 70+ births, and I have given postpartum support to 45+ families. I love what I do, and my clients can attest that it shows. Ashley is a loving wife & mom of six (6) littles, including a pair of twins. Ashley is a Birth Doula, Lactation Counselor, Fertility Counselor and Perinatal Loss Advocate. I became a birth worker after experiencing 2 hard-fought laboring experiences and feeling like my options during labor were limited to what was hospital routine and whatever was financially incentavizing for my medical providers. I decided that no mom should feel like her birth doesn't belong to her; like she cannot have full bodily autonomy in her most vulnerable hours. Every mother should have the liberty to explore all of her options, including alternative coping methods and relying on her own intuition to bring forth a healthy baby. Being a doula isn’t a job, it’s a privilege! I am honored to be able to assist families in some of the most transformative times in their lives. My approach when working with women and their families is to offer education and encouragement, which in turn helps them to feel confident as they approach and experience their baby’s birth. I provide evidence-based information and listen to what matters to my clients, and then we work together toward achieving their goals. Throughout pregnancy and especially during labor, I provide consistent, calm reassurance and guidance. I began my doula career in 2012 through DONA International and I am a Birth Beautifully Certified Birth Doula, Birth Beautifully Certified Childbirth Educator, and Birth Beautifully Birth Doula Trainer. I am also a Certified VBAC Doula through the VBAC Link, and I am a Certified Postpartum Doula through the Midwifery Institute. With a wide variety of doula experience — including medicated and unmedicated labors, spontaneous and induced labors, hospital birth and homebirth — my knowledge and understanding is put to use to help reduce my clients’ anxiety and increase their confidence. I have a special place in my heart for women suffering with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) during their pregnancies, as I myself have dealt with it five times. I believe the best pregnancies, births, and postpartum experiences happen when women and their families feel supported, and I would be honored to do that for your family.
