Tenia is an amazing doula! She is kind, caring, empathetic, and works with your schedule! My pregnancy story spark notes, I became unexpectedly pregnant at the end of my grad school program! Working on a masters thesis AND growing a child is not ideal. I was 7 months pregnant when I graduated meaning, I really didn't have the capacity to prepare for baby until then. The moment I became available Tenia came to my house and helped me set up my baby room! She calmed me down (because I was obviously freaking out) telling me you TRULY need these essentials: the diaper station set up, my hospital bag, and my lactation cart- and yes she helped me set that up I didn't even have to do that on my own! Day of, she was a ROCK START! My labor was very long and exhausting. She really encouraged me to stick to my birth plan as much as possible because she knew how much it meant to me however, I was in so much pain that she understood how I was feeling. She reassured me that you are still a great mother even if you get meds. She reminded me I had to do what was best for me and essentially baby. And if the meds would relax me enough for the baby to drop (which *she* did!!) that that wasn't a bad thing! Basically, she's pro "honor your body". After birth she was there to help me, constant phone communication and a few after visits! I truly don't know what I would have done without her. I would have been at a loss and am super grateful that Tenia was on my care team!
