Working with Tia was one of the best decisions we made for our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. From the very beginning, she brought such wisdom, warmth, and intentionality into every interaction. In our prenatal visits, she patiently walked us through what to expect, explained interventions in a way that felt clear and empowering, and gave my partner practical guidance on how to support me during labor. She also shared so much valuable lactation education that set us up for success once our baby arrived. When the time came for labor, Tia was absolutely incredible. She created such a safe and calming space, offering comfort and encouragement in every moment. She helped my partner feel confident in how to support me both physically and emotionally, and I will forever be grateful for how she helped us walk through that experience together. She was also the best advocate, ensuring that my wishes were honored and that we felt truly cared for and seen. Even after birth, Tia’s support didn’t stop. She has been a steady, compassionate presence—answering questions, easing worries, and guiding us as we step into this new season of parenthood. Her postpartum care has been just as meaningful as her presence at birth. Tia is a gift. She pours love and intentionality into her work in a way that is truly rare, and I can’t imagine having walked through this season without her.

There are not enough kind words I can say about Tia. She was present for my second birth, and I stand by I could not have done it without her. She provided such a fun, calm atmosphere. It was like having a best friend to hang out with while you brought your child into the world. From supportive texts, helpful informational videos, to answering my questions during pregnancy, to holding my hand through outrageous contractions she was there when I needed her with a calm voice and motivational words. One of my concerns was how my partner would feel about having another support person in the room with us. Tia ended up having some great insightful funny conversations with him. So much so that he asks how she is all the time. My birth went from 0-1000 very quickly. Everything became a scary/ traumatic situation, Tia never left my side. In my most vulnerable moments, at my absolute scariest moments she was there to talk to me, to listen to the Doctors when I couldn't process what was happening, and when my partner needed to leave me she was there. I will forever be grateful to her ability to guide my family through one of the toughest moments of our lives.

Tia is an incredible doula and person. Her and I developed a detailed, yet simple birth plan that encompassed all my wishes. She explained hospital options so I could make informed decisions. Prior to my son's birth, she showed my husband and me birth and overall comfort techniques. I had a complicated labor and delivery, which did not go according to plan, but Tia supported my husband and me throughout it all. Tia also came to my home postpartum and shared some excellent insight into feeding tips and techniques that helped with my son's gassiness and reflux. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dedicated, strong, and knowledgeable doula.

Frequently asked questions

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I do work with Masshealth insurance as well as benefits such as carrot and tricare.

Why did you become a doula?

I believe that every birth can have a reduced trauma component with the right amount of encouragement, education, compassion and informed consent. It is crucial to birthing peoples postpartum recovery and mental health to have a birth they can look back on fondly.

How many births have you attended?

100 and counting!

Do you take payment plans?

YES!!

What does a doula do or not do?

As a birth doula, I often hear misconceptions about what our role entails. Some people believe that we only help with physical comfort measures during labor while others assume that we should make medical decisions for the birthing person. However, the truth is that birth doulas play a crucial role in supporting birthing people through labor and delivery while staying within our scope of practice. Here are some things that birth doulas do: 1. Provide emotional support Giving birth can be an emotionally intense experience, and birth doulas are trained to provide non-judgmental emotional support. We help create a calm and nurturing environment to support the birthing person mentally and emotionally. 2. Offer physical comfort We offer a variety of physical comfort measures such as massage, positioning guidance, and using a birthing ball. Doulas have a variety of tools and techniques to make labor more comfortable. 3. Help with communication and advocacy Birth doulas don’t make medical decisions, but we can help the birthing person communicate with their care provider clearly and advocate for themselves. Doulas also offer information about different interventions and procedures so that the birthing person can make informed decisions about their care. 4. Assist with early breastfeeding Breastfeeding can be challenging in the early days postpartum, and birth doulas help with latching and positioning the baby to support successful breastfeeding. Here are some things that birth doulas don’t do: 1. Replace medical care providers Birth doulas are not medical professionals, and we do not replace the care provided by doctors, nurses, or midwives. Instead, we work alongside medical professionals to offer additional support to the birthing family. 2. Make medical decisions As mentioned earlier, birth doulas do not make medical decisions. Instead, we provide information and support the birthing person in making informed decisions about their care. 3. Force personal beliefs on the birthing person While doulas certainly have personal beliefs about birth, it is not our job to force our beliefs on the birthing person. Instead, we support them in achieving their goals for their birth experience, regardless of what those goals may be. Overall, birth doulas play a valuable role in supporting birthing people through labor and delivery. We offer emotional and physical support, help with communication and advocacy, and assist with early breastfeeding. However, we do not replace medical care providers, make medical decisions, or force personal beliefs
