I began my career as a birth professional in 2013 as a registered nurse, specializing in Labor & Delivery. I am also a certified doula and home birth midwife. I have worked as a travel nurse in different states, which has allowed me to learn a variety of useful methods and introduce them where beneficial to my birthing moms. It has been my pleasure to work with families of diverse backgrounds, helping them welcome their new baby into the world and fulfill their best possible pregnancy & birth experience. I enjoy working with women who labor with or without epidurals assisting them with massage, positioning, and breathing techniques to achieve a calming labor experience. I have attended over 2,000 births including water birth and cesarean deliveries. I completed my training and certification as a birth and bereavement doula through both the DONA International and Stillbirthday (bereavement) programs. I have also obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to assist women in their breastfeeding goals. As a Chocolate Milk Cafe facilitator I hold monthly meetings to provide Black women and their families with breastfeeding support and resources. I have received training as an Evidence Based Birth Instructor through Evidence Based Birth. Additionally, I have completed training to become a fertility and pregnancy and infant loss (PAIL) advocate. As a registered nurse I hold certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), AWOHNN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate & Advanced), and Safe Sleep. My goal is to help educate mothers and families to be as prepared as possible for the childbirth experience and help them to adjust thereafter. I offer hands-on support, as well as help mom understand each step of the labor/birth process so she may better voice her desires to her provider (MD/CNM). Hi! I’m Natasha Mizner, RN, BSN, IBCLC and the Founder and Co-Owner of Good Life Lactation! I started my career working at the bedside as a mother/baby RN for 10 years. Helping thousands of breastfeeding dyads in those first few days after birth made me realize the importance of education and support for families in the postpartum period. Since 2021, I have experience in both the hospital setting and private practice as a lactation consultant. I opened Good Life Lactation in 2022 with the goal of providing non-judgmental, evidence based, quality support to families. In 2024, I brought Emily on as a co-owner to be able to reach more families. My husband and I have three daughters ages 11, 7 and 2. Our youngest gave us a challenge as an infant. We worked through silent reflux, oral dysfunction, bottle difficulties, weight gain concerns and had her tethered oral tissues released. It was a difficult first 6 months, but we made it through and she is thriving. As part of my commitment to providing the best possible support, I am passionate about continuing my education and staying up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in lactation consulting. I have advanced training in oral habilitation and tethered oral tissues (tongue/lip ties). When I hear stories about families who have gone through breastfeeding difficulties with little to no support- the potentially avoidable stress, pain and guilt that they experienced breaks my heart. Families deserve better! While I can't promise to solve all issues or guarantee a flawless feeding journey, I can offer my support and expertise to guide you. Hello parents, I am a mom of 2 gorgeous boys, now happily living their elementary school years. I work part time in a floristry shop & more & more note that I gained a valuable skill in my babies early years. I miss that special time, & providing comfort to babies in need. It's an exhausting phase for parents & I welcome the opportunity to be of assistance to them. Nighttimes especially can be fraught with very valid feeding & settling demands by a baby, however, it can wholly detract new parents from their rest, sleep, & sanity. I am available for help, days & nights. (My husband is amazing with our own kids). Both my babies were breast & bottle fed, & took a pacifier for soothing times between feeding. I enjoyed learning so much about infant needs & patterns of growth, their development phases & overall sweetness & innocence in learning to be human! Our whole family enjoys being outdoors, while striking a balance of routine and ad hoc fun / adventure. I'm a social worker by education. I've spent the last 14 years working with low-income families to empower and encourage sustainability and health literacy. I became interested in birth work when I began working on a project to reduce infant mortality. I realized that many birthing persons do not realize all of the decisions that they have to make before, during and after birth. And that they do, and should, have a say in all of these decisions. I want to help families make informed choices that will enhance their birth experience and bring a healthy person into the world safely. I am super invested in helping folks secure their breast/chestfeeding relationship. Whether you are the birthing person, the adoptive parent, the non-gestational parent or just a supportive partner, we can talk about how to make your lactation journey successful. I successfully induced lactation for my first daughter as the non-gestational parent and am really excited to be able to share my lactation knowledge and journey with others.
