My baby is 3 weeks old. When we first came home from the hospital my supply was amazing I would get 10oz per pump. But as the weeks went on it dwindled down a lot. Now I’m lucky if I get 2oz per pump. I do a combination of breastfeeding and pumping but I would rather pump. Since im not supplying as much I have to use formula now at night: I’m not sure if it had anything to do with postpartum, but in that two weeks after giving birth I had no appetite, a constant migraine, and mood swings but I was still pumping 6oz per pump session. Now my appetite is back, I don’t have as many headaches, I try to get plenty of fluids and I’ve gotten more rest and for some reason my supply is so low. I don’t know what to do, I thought I was going to do great with pumping, I was excited and thought I’d be an over supplier. I feel like I’m failing.

I’m looking for a lactation consultant. Baby girl was born through a homebirth. My midwife noticed she has a tongue and lip tie. She said it doesn’t need to be revised if it doesn’t give her any issues. The first month I could see she had to work really hard to suck but she didn’t seem to let it slow her down, as she continued to gain weight beautifully. But recently she has been having episodes where she’ll scream and cry and not want to latch even though she’s hungry. These episodes especially happen at night. My one breast has excruciating pain and it’s especially bad when she latches. This side has always hurt to latch her, sometimes it’s worse than other times, currently it’s awful. I would love to not have to revise her ties but I need to know if this is truly what’s bothering her or if there’s something else I’m missing.

I am a first time mother and don't know what to expect. I have been nervous about the lack of communication from my OB's office and need general education and reassurance more than anything. I need to know what questions to ask. I don't know enough about this to know what my budget should be. I just need more information.
