Frequently asked questions

What is session frequency?

I recommend weekly therapy at the beginning to build up the trust in the therapy room and so you can get symptoms relief. As things progress, I will discuss with you what will be the frequency of the session based on your needs and progress in the therapy.

How long I will be in therapy?

My therapy approach is tailored to your unique needs. Most of my clients stay in therapy for 1-3 years. I incorporate direct conversation about how the therapy is working with my clients, what is helpful, what is challenging, and what we need to concentrate on more. I also provide short-term therapy.

What is your therapy approach?

I strive to be compassionate, down-to-earth, empathetic, validating, and empowering. Resilience, quality therapy, and self-discovery are important values to me. In my practice, I believe that therapy shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all experience. I utilize elements of CBT, Internal Family Therapy, and Mindfulness which are tailored to your unique needs. You will learn coping skills that you can use outside of the therapy room to feel better. Our work will also involve developing your mind and body connection and developing tools to use outside of sessions. I am also not the smile and nod therapist. My style is engaging and collaborative, which means we are working as a team. As a multicultural therapist and immigrant, I’m sensitive to your individual culture and how that plays a role in receiving help for your mental health.

What if I need medication?

We will have a discussion if you may benefit from medication. I will provide a referral to a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner.

What if I need additional support besides therapy?

One of the goals of therapy is to help you to build a village outside of the therapy room whatever form it looks like. Whether you need to work with a nutritionist, lactation consultant, or attend a peer group, I will provide a trusted referral.
