About me
Hello, and welcome. I’m Afrika White McCrea, a wife, mother, birth doula, newborn care specialist, and the heart behind VillageHer. Over the last fifteen years, I’ve had the honor of caring for families during some of the most beautiful, exhausting, joyful, and vulnerable moments of their lives. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: No one was ever meant to do this alone. Bringing a baby into the world changes everything. Alongside the excitement and love can come uncertainty, overwhelm, endless questions, and the quiet hope that someone will simply say, “I’ve got you.” That’s why I do this work. I believe parents deserve more than information, they deserve reassurance. They deserve to be nurtured while they nurture. They deserve a space where they can ask questions without judgment, cry when they need to, celebrate the little victories, and feel supported through every transition that parenthood brings. Whether I’m holding space during labor, rocking a newborn in the middle of the night, helping a mother find her confidence, or simply reminding parents that they’re doing better than they think, my goal is always the same: to help families feel cared for, connected, and never alone. VillageHer was born from the belief that every family deserves the kind of support we often wish we had ourselves—a village built on compassion, trust, and genuine care.
