Strength in Serenity is the embodiment and the symbol of the ceremonial rite of passage that occurs during the birthing moment. I started Strength in Serenity in September 2025. As a part of my spiritual journey, I knew I had to be of service to fulfill my purpose and being a Doula resonated with my soul. I have always had a passion for caring for, educating, and supporting families. I began my career over 15 years ago as a pediatric nurse working in home health, the children’s hospital, and as a neonatal intensive care nurse. After years of working with moms, babies, and families, I became more and more passionate about breastfeeding and earned my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I have been helping parents to provide Human Milk to their littles since 1995. I have helped families in a variety of settings such as a birthing hospital , NICU and even a health department. I can provide research base counseling when the parent is expecting to wean weaning is desired. I can provide guidance with use of tools that will hep in the collection of Human Milk and provide advice on medications affect on milk quality.

I hold a BS in Health and Physical Education with a concentration in Health Promotion and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health, in addition to being Certified in Public Health (CPH). My name is Amy Hammant, I am a licensed Internationally Board Certified Lactation Specialist, certified in Oral Habilitation, Cranial Nerve Dysfunction, Pediatric Feeding and Oral Motor Assessment, Pediatric Holistic Sleep Therapy, and CST-CFT trained. My Degree background is in Midwifery, and Health Psychology with a concentration in Maternal Child Health. I have served thousands of families of diverse populations over the years- working in and out of a hospital setting here in Tampa Bay, and also working in the community as the lead clinical lactation specialist at Champions for Children’s (Baby Cafe) program of Hillsborough County, before opening Tampa Breastfeeding Center. My journey started many years ago with my own three children struggling with feeding, and in particular, my daughter who was tongue tied. Our journey taught me so much, and gave me the passion and desire to give all families access to non-judgmental, evidenced based clinical lactation care. When I’m not helping mamas and babies, I spend my time with my family traveling in our RV making memories!

My experience started in 1997 as a Mother-Baby nurse where I began working with families who were also learning to feed their babies. I knew I wanted to become a lactation consultant after repeatedly watching parents in tears and feeling defeated as they struggled with feeding their infants regardless of their age, education level, or race. I pursued that education and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2005. I breastfed my four children, but not without my own hiccups! Even though I had some experience and knowledge, each baby was doing it for the first time, and we had to learn how to do it together!
