Hope became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2017, completed her PhD in nutritional biochemistry in May 2018, and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in September 2020. In addition to owning and operating Hope Feeds Families, Hope is employed full time at Winthrop University in the Department of Human Nutrition running a research lab that focuses on helping mothers to reach their infant feeding goals, improving access to human milk, and analyzing the nutritional content of human milk. As an IBCLC, Hope has a passion for connecting with mothers to help them to reach their individual feeding goals and advocacy for maternal health. I have a passion for community assistance ever since I have knowledge. I remember as a little girl helped the elders after school at only 9 years old. As years passed me passion for helping our community grew stronger. So I began my journey in the medical field as a RMA in the OB GYN specialty. I still felt that I can do more for my community and one day in bible study a lady I met called herself a Doula and I asked what is a doula and once she explained to me what a Doula is I immediately looked into it and it was an instant match for me. I was already working with moms and babies but being even more close to my clients and the community was an extraordinary feeling of accomplishment. I got certify as a Doula Business Owner, Lactation consultant, Birth Doula, Holistic nutrition, placenta encapsulation specialist all to be an all in one package for my clients. I strongly believe that it lessens the stress when a doula can carry multiple specialties needed to avoid referring and the client to be seeing multiple appointments in a day. Liz is an Registered Nurse, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) trained body worker who has over 10 years of experience working with newborns and their families. Her unique perspective on family centered care comes from a compilation of knowledge that she gained by working in a Level III NICU, as a postpartum doula, as a lactation consultant and a body worker. Her philosophy is that every family should feel they are thriving, not just surviving, the adjustment to adding a new baby to the family. While a lot of her time is focused on the first three months after delivery, her support can span years as the family unit is ever evolving. Her specialties include oral function, assessment for oral restriction (aka lip/tongue ties), tension release with CFT, post NICU graduates, multiples, and medically complex infants. After the birth of my first daughter in 2011, I became passionate about breastfeeding and its advocacy. I had no idea how hard and isolating it would be and desperately wanted help and advice. We moved back to the Capital Region and I found La Leche League! This community of supportive, non-judgmental nursing families inspired me and I became an accredited Leader in 2017. My name is Sherri Gunn and I am one of the owners of Utah Breastfeeding & Tongue Tie center. I am a mom to six kids and had a very different breast-feeding journey with each one. I am passionate about helping others have support and help on their breast-feeding journey. I’m also a Myofunctional therapist so navigating oral restrictions and tethered oral ties is what I do best. I was also a NICU RN for years and have a special love for that population. My passion is deeply rooted in my personal experience and life long passions to help others. I had a rough start breastfeeding our daughter. With the thoughtful care of an amazing IBCLC who came to my home to help me, I was able to have a long breastfeeding journey with our daughter. Her support made me realize that I wanted to help other parents achieve their goals. It was really a full circle journey for me. When I was in college, I thought that I wanted to go into healthcare, but my academic journey didn’t work out for that. I pursued a degree in marketing and entered into the business world. I could never figure out why that didn’t work out in college until I was inspired to become a lactation professional. God had a plan for me to help moms, and lactation has been my way to help people in the way that I always thought that I wanted to in healthcare. I am a mom to two amazing kiddos and in my previous career worked in marketing and sales. My husband and I met when we both worked in college athletics. I took a step back from my career when I got pregnant with our daughter and focused on her and living the coach’s wife life with SEC football. It is then that I found my passion for lactation. I am a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame and I grew up in the Michiana area. I am so happy to be home and serving our community (and beyond) with my private practice.
