I'm a social worker by education. I've spent the last 14 years working with low-income families to empower and encourage sustainability and health literacy. I became interested in birth work when I began working on a project to reduce infant mortality. I realized that many birthing persons do not realize all of the decisions that they have to make before, during and after birth. And that they do, and should, have a say in all of these decisions. I want to help families make informed choices that will enhance their birth experience and bring a healthy person into the world safely. My name is Stephanie Smith, I am a LPN and IBCLC- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I live with my family on our farm near Marshall Junction, where we raise chickens, ducks and emu (yes, Emu, feel free to ask me why!) and a bunch of farm cats. I enjoy caring for all our animals and gardening, and stay busy with our kids in a variety of school activities and sports. Professionally, I’ve been a nurse for 20 years, working in OB/GYN for the past 14 years. I became a Certified Lactation Counselor in 2016 and then continued my education to earn my IBCLC in 2025. My experience is in both hospital postpartum and outpatient clinic, caring for moms and babies throughout the first year and beyond.
