I am a mom of 4 and grandmother of 7. I am a RN having working in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Nursery and NICU. I have been an LC for 10+ years. I have a passion for assisting mom and families to develop a plan with feeding that work for mom and that helps her reach her goals.

I began my career as a birth professional in 2013 as a registered nurse, specializing in Labor & Delivery. I am also a certified doula and home birth midwife. I have worked as a travel nurse in different states, which has allowed me to learn a variety of useful methods and introduce them where beneficial to my birthing moms. I have also obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to assist women in their breastfeeding goals. As a Chocolate Milk Cafe facilitator I hold monthly meetings to provide Black women and their families with breastfeeding support and resources. I have received training as an Evidence Based Birth Instructor through Evidence Based Birth. Additionally, I have completed training to become a fertility and pregnancy and infant loss (PAIL) advocate. As a registered nurse I hold certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), AWOHNN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate & Advanced), and Safe Sleep. My goal is to help educate mothers and families to be as prepared as possible for the childbirth experience and help them to adjust thereafter. I'm a social worker by education. I've spent the last 14 years working with low-income families to empower and encourage sustainability and health literacy. I became interested in birth work when I began working on a project to reduce infant mortality. I realized that many birthing persons do not realize all of the decisions that they have to make before, during and after birth. And that they do, and should, have a say in all of these decisions. I want to help families make informed choices that will enhance their birth experience and bring a healthy person into the world safely. I am super invested in helping folks secure their breast/chestfeeding relationship. I operate a birthing practice. My birthing practice is named My Ancient Birthing to commemorate my love for my God and also to embody and recognize ancient birthing practices. I am also an activist for the fair treatment of minorities; therefore, my practice serves as a pillar in supporting this paradigm. I am an ante, intra and postpartum doula AND midwife, a fertility and birth practitioner through DONA and I specialize in small surgical circumcision(s), lactation coaching and maternal fitness. Helping thousands of breastfeeding dyads in those first few days after birth made me realize the importance of education and support for families in the postpartum period. Since 2021, I have experience in both the hospital setting and private practice as a lactation consultant. I opened Good Life Lactation in 2022 with the goal of providing non-judgmental, evidence based, quality support to families. In 2024, I brought Emily on as a co-owner to be able to reach more families. My husband and I have three daughters ages 11, 7 and 2. Our youngest gave us a challenge as an infant. We worked through silent reflux, oral dysfunction, bottle difficulties, weight gain concerns and had her tethered oral tissues released. It was a difficult first 6 months, but we made it through and she is thriving. As part of my commitment to providing the best possible support, I am passionate about continuing my education and staying up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in lactation consulting. I have advanced training in oral habilitation and tethered oral tissues (tongue/lip ties). When I hear stories about families who have gone through breastfeeding difficulties with little to no support- the potentially avoidable stress, pain and guilt that they experienced breaks my heart.
