My passion as a doula is empowering pregnant women to take control of their prenatal preparation. I learned with my first pregnancy that birth is a huge physical feat, so I give you tools and simple movement exercises (that I wish I had back then!) which will train and balance your body specifically for the task at hand: pregnancy, birth, and recovery. I hired a doula for my first two births and I was SO grateful for that decision!! I gave birth at a free-standing birth center, with the support of her and my spouse. If it wasn't for my doula, I know I would not have made it through the marathon of labor! I came away feeling supported and strong. I was certified as a doula in 2016 and then in 2022 trained as a Body Ready Method Pro & Childbirth Educator. Hi! A little about me. When I was 3yrs old I told my parents that I wanted to be a baby doctor. Fast forward to college, and I was pre-med for two years before changing my major to Psychology. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology but knew I still wanted to be in the birth world, somehow. I had two babies of my own and learned the term Doula. I had an amazing doula for both of my births, and both experiences were amazing for different reasons. I began my career as a birth professional in 2013 as a registered nurse, specializing in Labor & Delivery. I am also a certified doula and home birth midwife. I have worked as a travel nurse in different states, which has allowed me to learn a variety of useful methods and introduce them where beneficial to my birthing moms. Hello parents, I am a mom of 2 gorgeous boys, now happily living their elementary school years. I work part time in a floristry shop & more & more note that I gained a valuable skill in my babies early years. I miss that special time, & providing comfort to babies in need. It's an exhausting phase for parents & I welcome the opportunity to be of assistance to them. Nighttimes especially can be fraught with very valid feeding & settling demands by a baby, however, it can wholly detract new parents from their rest, sleep, & sanity. I am available for help, days & nights. (My husband is amazing with our own kids). Both my babies were breast & bottle fed, & took a pacifier for soothing times between feeding. I enjoyed learning so much about infant needs & patterns of growth, their development phases & overall sweetness & innocence in learning to be human! Our whole family enjoys being outdoors, while striking a balance of routine and ad hoc fun / adventure. Hi! I’m Sara McAdoo and I am a certified birth doula and a prenatal yoga instructor in the Kansas City area and am passionate about families honoring God in their births. I am a wife, mother to 4 amazing young kids, homeschooler, avid baker, budding herbalist, gardener, bzzzy beekeeper, and backyard chicken keeper. I create herbal teas specifically for the pregnant and postpartum mama (Gen 1:29-30). I am active in our church, especially in the children’s department. I enjoy making sourdough, baking goody treats, spending time in my garden, visiting local farmers markets, and volunteering in children’s church and children’s quizzing at our local church. I am passionate about helping moms and partners feel empowered and confident about their birth decisions all throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey! My journey to become a doula came from my own experiences of birth, growth, faith, and support. My first birth experience ended up being a cesarean birth. At age 35, I knew I wanted to try for a VBAC with my second. My provider said they supported it but they also wanted me to schedule a c-section just in case. At 39 weeks, I was not being supported by my birth provider and with the help of my doula, I switched providers and had a successful and fully supported natural VBAC in the hospital. My last 2 births were at home surrounded with love and support and calm. Through my personal experiences, I want to educate, support, and empower moms and families to believe in themselves and surrender to this amazing birth they desire.
