I’m looking for a night nanny to help with my newborn so my husband and I can get some sleep. Simple run of the mill feedings and diaper changes.

We are first-time parents with a generally healthy but small (about 5 lb) newborn. We need help with overnight infant care to allow both parents adequate sleep. Duties would include constant monitoring of baby (to guard against SIDS, etc.) , overnight diaper changes, soothing, and waking mom when it's time to breastfeed. A nursing background and experience with infant care are strongly preferred, as is the ability to start soon (within the next few days), and recent infant CPR training/certification. The exact details on which and how many nights may be negotiable, as we may be able to get periodic help from grandparents, but generally we'd expect to need help at least 5 nights per week (Sunday night through Friday morning), but possibly every night -especially early on. Ideal hours would probably be something like midnight or 1 AM until about 7 am. The total duration could be up to a few months, but the next couple weeks or so are an especially acute need. Even after the expected duration, we might be interested in hiring the same person to help on an as-needed basis in the long term if things work out well. Please note that while we have the resources to cover it, we had not budgeted for this need/expense, so a budget-friendly offer would be very highly prized and appreciated, assuming you can meet the criteria above. We also might consider some sort of temporary live-in arrangement in which room/board, meals, etc. are part of the compensation. Our overall budget probably tops out around $1,000 per week, but honestly we'd like to keep it to something more like half that, though we understand that would probably require some careful selection of hours given that we're seeking essentially a credentialed professional. We also understand it may be difficult to find an individual person to be available as much as we are hoping, so two or more part-time candidates might also be considered. Also, if you feel you'd be a good candidate but consider our budget too low, please don't hesitate to apply/offer, since we really haven't researched the going rate at this point. I think we're going to need help regardless of cost, and we can't hire just anybody off the street. Also please keep in mind that this posting was written and posted entirely by Dad with only basic guidelines from Mom, so some of the details could change.
