About Bonnie

In Hebrew, "Qavah" means to wait, hope, and expect. That’s my primary intention alongside the families I serve. I support parents through pregnancy, birth, and those intense, beautiful early weeks postpartum. I'm all about safe, evidence-based care that respects your choices and honors your unique birth journey. I'm here to listen, support, and care for you every step of the way. I've spent over 25 years in women's health, community health, and hospice care. Practicing midwifery has been my lifelong dream. My true passion is partnering with women throughout their entire health journey. After years of working within the hospital system, I chose to return birth to its natural setting: the home. I believe that birth is not a crisis to be managed, but a powerful, transformative experience that deserves time, trust, and tenderness. When I'm not supporting growing families, I'm usually outdoors exploring, whether it be traveling to a new place, hiking a trail, skiing a powdery slope, or out on the water kayaking. At home, you can find me looking up new recipes, baking, or drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying a good conversation.

Home Birth

Includes all prenatal visits, attendance at your labor and birth by myself and a qualified nurse or birth assistant, postpartum visits in your home for the first week after birth, and postpartum care for mom and baby.

Women's Primary Care

I offer women's health care for an ongoing issue such as PCOS, infertility, painful periods, menopause etc for $40/month . Package includes: -Unlimited in person or telehealth visits -Medication management -Nutrition and supplement recommendations -Ordering and interpreting labs and ultrasound -Referrals to other providers as needed

What to expect

I offer prenatal care, home birth, water birth, and postpartum care for mom and well babies. I also offer women's primary care including annual exams, infertility, family planning, abnormal periods, and perimenopause and menopause care.

Frequently asked questions

Do you support VBAC's?

At this time I will consider a client who has already had one successful VBAC prior to this pregnancy. I do not offer care for initial TOLAC births at home. But I will help you find a provider to support you in a different location!

What about labs and ultrasounds?

I order all basic prenatal labs as well as some to check your nutritional status. I also like you to have 1-3 ultrasounds during pregnancy, some of which can be done in my office. If you have health insurance, these are usually covered.

Why don't you take insurance?

It's complicated. Insurance companies are not great about working with small single practice owners or home birth providers. But under NY law, you have a right to give birth where you choose and have your insurance pay for it. While I ask for payment up front for your birth, I also have a sliding scale based on your income. I work with a dedicated insurance biller to bill your insurance out-of-network (including Medicaid plans) and hopefully get them to reimburse you for your birth.

What if I'm over 35? Over 40?

If you and your baby are healthy and well, you may be a great candidate for home birth! Age is not a limiting factor on its own.

Do you offer breech births? What about twins?

I do not offer planned breech or twin births at home. But I will help you find a provider to support a vaginal brith of either if that is your desire.
