About Christina

Caring for mothers, babies, and families has been part of my life for more than 30 years. Although I am newer to professional doula work, I bring decades of hands-on caregiving experience, a heart for service, and a genuine passion for helping families feel confident and supported. As a mother of three and grandmother of eight, my personal experiences include vaginal birth, emergency and planned cesarean births, and caring for a premature baby in the NICU. These experiences have shaped my understanding that every pregnancy, birth, baby, and family is unique. With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare customer service and leadership, I bring strong communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills, balanced with my naturally calm, patient, and compassionate personality. Through Guiding With Grace Maternal Wellness, I provide birth doula support, postpartum care, overnight newborn care, and childbirth education. Whether I'm helping an expectant mother prepare for childbirth, supporting her through labor, assisting with postpartum recovery, or caring for her newborn so she can rest, my approach is rooted in respect, education, and individualized care. I believe every woman deserves to feel heard, informed, respected, and empowered. My goal is to create a peaceful, judgment-free environment where families feel comfortable asking questions, expressing their preferences, and confidently navigating their journey into parenthood. What if I'm planning an epidural?

You still deserve support—no matter how you choose to give birth. An epidural doesn't mean you're out of options. We can explore different positions and comfort measures that may still be available to you and work together to help you feel informed, supported, and involved in your birth experience. Whether your birth includes an epidural, induction, C-section, or a change in plans along the way, you don't deserve any less care because your birth isn't "natural" or unmedicated.

How can a birth doula help me advocate for myself during labor?

Your voice matters during childbirth, and you deserve to feel heard, respected, and involved in decisions about your care. At Guiding With Grace Maternal Wellness, I help expectant mothers build the confidence to ask questions, understand their options, and communicate their birth preferences with their healthcare team. I recognize that women of color may face additional challenges in maternity care, including disparities in maternal health outcomes and concerns about having their voices heard. My approach emphasizes culturally responsive support, informed decision-making, and respectful communication. I also recognize that women whose first language is not English may experience additional communication barriers during pregnancy and childbirth. I encourage mothers to ask questions, request qualified medical interpreters when needed, and take an active role in decisions about their care. Every mother deserves to understand her options and have her concerns taken seriously, regardless of the language she speaks. As your birth doula, I support you and your partner in advocating for your needs while encouraging collaboration with your medical providers—not conflict.
