In 2014, after having my own home birth with a midwife, I knew that I wanted to help expectant families have that same empowered and supported birthing experience that I did. I am dedicated to making sure that you and your partner feel like you have the skills you need to have the most positive birth experience as possible. I love to explore and research ways to provide you with continuous support, and use evidence based information so that you can make educated decisions during your pregnancy, birth, and into postpartum. I support families all throughout the following areas: South Bay, Peninsula, San Francisco, and East Bay. I am 100% vaccinated and boosted.

Hi, my name is Katelyn, and I’m a certified Full-Spectrum doula. I have experience supporting families through VBAC, high-risk pregnancies, and IVF journeys. I believe that every birth story is unique, and my role is to provide steady, compassionate support—emotionally, physically, and informationally—through each step of the process. My background includes working closely with clients navigating complex or medically supported births, and I’m deeply committed to creating a calm, empowering space where families feel safe, heard, and in control of their choices. Whether you’re preparing for a vaginal birth after cesarean, managing a high-risk pregnancy, welcoming a baby after fertility treatment, or have a generally "normal" pregnancy, I’m here to walk beside you with care and confidence. It’s an honor to support families during such a transformative time, and I’m grateful to be part of this work.

We are so grateful for our amazing doula! From the very beginning, she was incredibly responsive and always made herself available to meet with us in person, which made a huge difference compared to virtual support. She answered all of our questions with patience and expertise, and guided us through choosing the right baby products, which was so helpful as first-time parents. When I was unexpectedly hospitalized for five weeks due to a pregnancy complication—placenta previa that later transformed into vasa previa—she went above and beyond to support us. She went to our home and packed my hospital bag, making sure I had everything I needed. She also helped us with buying a stroller after discovering that our original choice wasn’t compatible with our car seat, and even installed the car seat for us. Throughout my hospital stay, she visited me regularly, offering comfort and reassurance during a very difficult time. The birth ultimately resulted in a 1.5-hour C-section due to the vasa previa condition. She was there when I woke up, feeling extremely sick and overwhelmed, and I truly don’t know what I would have done without her emotional and mental support for both me and my husband. Her presence and guidance made us feel supported and empowered throughout the entire process. In the postpartum period, she continued to be an incredible resource. She came to our home, offered advice on caring for our baby, and helped us install and learn how to use several products we had bought or received but had no idea how to use. Her hands-on support and practical guidance made a world of difference as we adjusted to life with our newborn. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better doula. She was our guardian angel, and we are so grateful she came into our lives. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional care and support during pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

We started working with Jay when our son was 8 weeks old and struggling with very fragmented sleep, only managing 2–3 hour stretches at night. From the very beginning, Jay brought a calm, nurturing presence into our home and made an incredible difference. Within a short time, our son was sleeping 5–6 hour stretches, and we were finally able to rest and recover. Jay was not only incredibly sweet and gentle with him, but also deeply knowledgeable and thoughtful in her approach. She took the time to teach my husband and me practical, evidence-based strategies to support his sleep—both at night and during naps—and empowered us with tools we still use today. She was wonderfully communicative, flexible with our schedule, and always attuned to our baby’s unique needs and temperament. One of my favorite memories from that time was the night our son woke up just before Jay arrived for her shift. When she took him in her arms, he glanced over her shoulder at us and gave us the biggest smile as she walked away with him to the nursery—which was so shocking because he always wants us for bedtime. In that moment, we knew he truly loved her and felt completely safe and comforted in her care. It’s such a good feeling as parents to know your baby is in hands they trust and adore. Her presence brought such peace and reassurance during a vulnerable and exhausting phase of new parenthood. Jay didn’t just help our baby sleep—she helped us feel more confident, supported, and cared for as a family. We’re endlessly grateful for her guidance and would wholeheartedly recommend her to any new parents seeking gentle, knowledgeable, and compassionate support.

Parents: please share your EDD & contact info in the message body 🙏🏾 Birth doula of 13 years. This is my calling in life to be of service to labor/birth. I’m very grateful to have this as my service in this lifetime and believe every new life is a gift to be honored with care, love and respect for the process. Trained in techniques that encourage optimal fetal positioning by finding balance in the body (more comfort during pregnancy as well as labor/birth) optimal positioning helps labor be more comfortable, increasing odds of a efficient and smoother vaginal birth. I share these techniques with my clients in the third trimester to decrease the use of interventions & prevent trauma. Also practicing placenta encapsulation and massage therapy at Full Moon Birth & Family Wellness Center.

We had the most magical natural unmedicated birth experience in a hospital and we owe so much of it to Gretchen. Right from our first interaction when we were interviewing birth doulas, we were drawn by her warm nature. Her prenatal visits were extremely helpful be it the exercises she taught us to enable an optimal baby position for birth or her inputs into crafting our birth plan. We would have been lost with the information overload if not for her timely, targeted and super informative educational resources that have been extremely helpful to us as first time parents. She has always been a text or phone call away to address anything we needed. She brought in a sign of relief when she entered the labor room...her calming presence during my final stretch of labor and the positions she guided me through definitely helped me avoid an epidural. The icing on the cake was her singing a lullaby to our little one upon birth, it felt divine. She also captured beautiful moments of our baby's birth that we will cherish forever. I will always remember her positive affirmation 'You are stronger than you think!'. Can't thank you enough Gretchen for being the rockstar that you are and all your support to growing families :)

We’re so grateful and appreciative for Stephanie when she was our night doula. Before the birth, Stephanie was communicative and supportive. She came to our house the first night we arrived home with our baby, and it made for the best transition ever! We originally planned for only 1 month with Stephanie, but we loved having her help so we asked her to stay for another month. We wholeheartedly recommend Stephanie to anyone who needs a night doula.

Hi, I'm Kristin Guess! My journey into birth work began when I attended a DONA International workshop in 2018. After supporting my first birth, I knew that doula work was exactly where I belonged. I remember driving home with a huge smile, filled with a sense of joy and awe—as if I had witnessed one of life’s greatest secrets: the arrival of a new being, full of possibility. No matter how unique each experience is, that feeling of wonder never fades. It is truly an honor and privilege to be present for such a profound moment in people’s lives. I was born and raised just outside of Sacramento and spent 2 years after high school living in Germany before making my way to the Bay Area for college. During the pandemic years, I moved to Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful, but California is where my heart is. I’m now excited to get to call Half Moon Bay home. I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to support Bay Area families once again. As a DONA-certified, evidence-based doula, my role is to help you feel informed, empowered, and at ease throughout your birthing journey. I love working with birthing people and becoming a team to create an environment that feels safe and one where you feel heard and respected. I believe deeply in individualized support and the importance of continuing education.   In my free time you can find me biking or walking the HMB Coastal Trail, listening to a podcast, gardening, watercoloring or baking some sourdough.

I became a parent in 2020. This birth was difficult, but it didn't have to be. The Pandemic heightened my feelings of confusion and loneliness during my pregnancy and birth, and I longed for a community of support. When connecting with other Covid-parents, I saw how negatively this isolation impacted all of us. Birth is an experience no one should have to do alone. As a Doula, I can provide the emotional, physical, and informational support I wish I had. I'm a fierce advocate for my clients and their preferences, and create a nurturing and empowering space for emerging parents.

We are so grateful to have had Karen! She helped me write out how I envisioned my birth and what I wanted. And during the labor she was so valued! She gave my husband support as well as myself. It felt like we were all a part of a true team. Her guidance and support was what we needed! I’d highly recommend her to any family and friends of mine.

Blessings to you. Thank you for jumping in profile. My name is Valerie Claxton, and I am an IBCLC, a certified childbirth educator, doula certified, and a registered nurse specializing in labor and delivery living northern California. I have been on both sides of the labor and delivery journey as a nurse, I see mothers choosing what is best for them and advocating for them, whether going fully natural to using medicinal means to deliver. I know that with teamwork, belief, trust, releasing all fears, and encompassing a peaceful space that birthing your beautiful bundle will come easy. Yes, there are the unknowns but with constant communication and reassurance our relationship will be unbreakable. I enjoy teaching Zumba, serving in our children's ministry, and showing off my green thumb.

I tell everybody I know to get a lactation consultant BEFORE they give birth as I truly believe breastfeeding would be a lot easier if women had more access to more help. I highly recommend Valerie specifically because I did work with another consultant beforehand and while she was lovely, she wasn't quite able to help us the way we needed. Valerie noticed tiny but important details of our lives and provided much needed insight and advice on how to get through the hard times.
