First birth, want an at home style birth plan. I want as little reason to be at a hospital as possible. I have no insurance so I would pay out of pocket and would need to know when my fees are due so I can properly plan that. I will be stopping work by December. I am currently 17 weeks. I would prefer to have in person meetings as much as possible and my partner would like to be involved when possible. He has more questions than I, he does not understand midwifery or doulas, I am very comfortable with the idea and truly do not want to give birth at a hospital. My mom is a nurse and there is a chance she will want to be involved, which is okay. I see a Massage Therapist regularly who is a doula herself and gives me advice now and then.

I plan to have an unmedicated home water birth. I wish to give birth in a kneeling position in a birthing pool. I wish to have movement during labour and a calm environment with dim lighting. I only want fetal monitoring if my baby is in distress or if medically necessary. I do not wish to be offered pain medication.
