Childcare and working with families has been my career for over thirteen years. Since 2011, I have had the privilege of supporting a wide range of families, caring for children from newborns to twelve years of age in both private homes and early years settings. Alongside my childcare career, I am currently completing my certifications as a birth and postpartum doula and child sleep consultant, and I am also studying to become a birth and lactation coach. These areas of study allow me to further expand my knowledge of pregnancy, birth, postpartum adjustment, infant development, breastfeeding and lactation, responsive sleep, and family support. I am passionate about supporting families through the many stages of parenthood, from the early newborn days through childhood. Along the way, I have intentionally sought opportunities that have broadened my experience, from private nanny positions and family support roles to early childhood education, leadership, and operating my own licensed childcare business. My approach is centered on providing calm, consistent, and emotionally responsive care. I believe children flourish when they feel genuinely seen, safe, and respected, and I strive to create environments where they can develop confidence, independence, social skills, curiosity, and resilience. My practice is informed by attachment theory and trauma informed principles, always recognizing that every child is unique and deserves care that reflects their individual needs and family values. My experience includes caring for infants, toddlers, school aged children, twins, siblings, and groups of up to 24 children, as well as supporting children with additional physical, developmental, emotional, and behavioural needs. I am equally comfortable managing the changing routines of a busy household as I am planning enriching activities, supporting school readiness, encouraging outdoor exploration, or providing a quiet, reassuring presence during more challenging moments. Alongside childcare, I take pride in contributing to the smooth running of a family home. I am experienced with meal preparation, wardrobe management, laundry, organization, appointment scheduling, school runs, errands, travel preparation, and maintaining tidy, welcoming spaces. I am confident accommodating vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, and allergy conscious diets. I hold a degree in Child Development and remain committed to continuing my professional development. I maintain my First Aid and CPR certification, have completed training in childcare administration, allergy awareness, and the BC Early Learning Framework (known as the FLIGHT curriculum in Alberta), and actively seek opportunities to continue learning throughout my career. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, swimming, reading, dancing, and arts and crafts. These are activities I enjoy sharing with children, whether that means spending time outdoors, discovering new books, or testing out new ways to be creative. Above all, I understand the importance of safety, trust, discretion, and reliability. I am a non smoker, fluent in both English and Spanish, have a reliable vehicle and a clean driving record, am comfortable travelling with families, experienced caring for pets, and at ease working within professionally managed households, including those with security systems and in-home cameras. My goal is to become a dependable person who supports both children and the household with warmth, professionalism, and care. ****Please connect with me via my website contact form. https://www.peacefulbirthdoula.com/contact.html Brittney is a certified birth and postpartum doula trained under DONA International and practicing since 2017, is a proud member of both the Doula Association of Edmonton and DONA International. With expertise in attending both home and hospital births, she holds valuable experience in supporting VBAC, twins, and brings personal insight from her own journey, including home VBAC, infertility, and trauma. In addition to her current doula certifications, Brittney has a passionate focus on VBAC clients. Recognizing the unique needs and desires of mothers seeking a vaginal birth after cesarean, she is currently the only VBAC Certified Doula in the Edmonton area which underscores her commitment to providing specialized support and expertise for women navigating the journey of VBAC. Her passion for birth work is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and a love for endurance sports, coupled with her resilience in overcoming cancer. As a mother of two miracle boys, Brittney defied odds after surviving leukemia in 2010 when she was told she may never conceive. Grounded in her Christian faith and through the power of prayer, Brittney's determination, patience, and a profound emotional struggle ultimately led to the conception of her first child. Facing numerous medical interventions during her cancer battle, Brittney recognized the importance of reclaiming control over her body during childbirth. Despite a first birth ending in a c-section, the overall prenatal, labor, and postpartum experience remained positive, thanks to the support of a wonderful midwife and labor companion. For her second birth, she achieved an empowering home water birth with the assistance of her midwife and doula. Brittney firmly believes in the strength and power of all women to manifest the birth they envision. As a doula, her goal is to provide unwavering support, fostering a peaceful birthing environment that transforms this experience into a moment of empowerment. Drawing from her personal journey, Brittney is dedicated to helping other mothers create empowering and positive birthing experiences, ensuring they emerge with a profound sense of strength, confidence, and self-discovery. Through compassionate guidance, Brittney strives to make each birth a transformative and inspiring journey into motherhood. Brittney is certified through DONA International. She has completed both the DONA Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula training in Edmonton, Alberta, along with Introduction to Childbirth for Doulas and the Basics of Lactation Management for Doulas. She also holds her Advanced VBAC Doula certification, is a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist and has completed her Lamaze Childbirth Educator training.

We are so incredibly grateful to have had Brittney as our doula. From the very beginning, she made us feel comfortable, supported, and confident going into birth. She was incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and reassuring, and always took the time to listen to us, answer our questions, and make sure we felt prepared. Brittney’s support during labour was truly invaluable. She had such a calming presence and knew exactly when to step in with guidance and encouragement or simply give us space. She helped us stay grounded and confident throughout the entire experience, and we always felt like we were in such capable and caring hands. Looking back, I genuinely believe that without Brittney’s support, the outcome of my birth could have been very different. She made such a meaningful difference in helping our birth feel peaceful, supported, and empowering. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to have by our side during such a special and life-changing moment. We wholeheartedly recommend Brittney and will always be so grateful she was part of our birth story. ❤️
