I am a certified birth & postpartum doula trained under DONA International, who has been practicing since 2017. I'm an active member of the Doula Association of Edmonton as well as DONA International. I attend both home and hospital births and have experience with VBAC and twins, as well as personal experience with home VBAC, infertility and trauma. My passion for birth work comes from my own experiences as well as my love for endurance sports and perseverance in surviving cancer. I'm a mom of 2 miracle boys, who after surviving leukemia in 2010, was told I'd never conceive my own children. Through patience, prayer, and much emotional struggle, I finally got pregnant. With so many necessary medical interventions during my cancer journey, I knew I wanted to be more in control of my body when it came to childbirth. Although this birth ended in a c-section, the prenatal, labour, and postpartum experience was positive all because of a wonderful midwife and labour support. For my second, I had an amazing home water birth with my midwife and doula. This birth was truly empowering and an experience that I want other mothers to have. I believes that all women have the strength and power to have the birth they envision. My goal is to support mothers in a peaceful birth that they can look back on as an experience that transformed their life.

I offer a complimentary consultation any time during your pregnancy to talk about whether my services coincide with your needs. I want you to feel comfortable and informed with a no-pressure meeting so that you can decide if my services are right for you. Take your time and I will wait for you to contact me. My support includes 2 prenatal sessions, your labour & birth and a postpartum session. We discuss in length, your thoughts, feelings, expectations and wishes for your birth, as well as my general role. My goal is to help you and your partner prepare for the birth you envision so we will prepare a detailed birth plan in preparation to have a satisfying birth, regardless of the outcome. Your birth plan includes your philosophies regarding where you birth, how you birth, pain control, environment, who is attending, and any other wishes you may have. You'll have the assurance of someone on hand who can help you understand what your options are. When the big day arrives, I will be right by your side to help provide continuous support at your home or birth place and help you navigate the process. My role is to help you cope with any fears or anxieties you may have. I am not only sympathetic, but informed. My presence is quiet and calm and I can provide suggestions for massage, position changes, comfort measures, etc. I can also take a lead support role in order to give any other primary support people a chance to rest and catch a nap or a meal. I will come to your home within a week or a few weeks depending on what we decide. Here we will go briefly review your birth experience, my role, and any questions you may have at the time.
Brittney was there for the births of my 2 sons. I could not have asked for anyone better to be with me. She was calm and caring. She gave me support from the first day I met her, and still does. She is very passionate about being a doula and her clients. When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, she was one of the first people I contacted.
