About me

Brittney is a certified birth and postpartum doula trained under DONA International and practicing since 2017, is a proud member of both the Doula Association of Edmonton and DONA International. With expertise in attending both home and hospital births, she holds valuable experience in supporting VBAC, twins, and brings personal insight from her own journey, including home VBAC, infertility, and trauma. In addition to her current doula certifications, Brittney has a passionate focus on VBAC clients. Recognizing the unique needs and desires of mothers seeking a vaginal birth after cesarean, she is currently in the process of obtaining her VBAC certification. This dedicated pursuit underscores her commitment to providing specialized support and expertise for women navigating the journey of VBAC. Her passion for birth work is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and a love for endurance sports, coupled with her resilience in overcoming cancer. As a mother of two miracle boys, Brittney defied odds after surviving leukemia in 2010 when she was told she may never conceive. Grounded in her Christian faith and through the power of prayer, Brittney's determination, patience, and a profound emotional struggle ultimately led to the conception of her first child. Facing numerous medical interventions during her cancer battle, Brittney recognized the importance of reclaiming control over her body during childbirth. Despite a first birth ending in a c-section, the overall prenatal, labor, and postpartum experience remained positive, thanks to the support of a wonderful midwife and labor companion. For her second birth, she achieved an empowering home water birth with the assistance of her midwife and doula. Brittney firmly believes in the strength and power of all women to manifest the birth they envision. As a doula, her goal is to provide unwavering support, fostering a peaceful birthing environment that transforms this experience into a moment of empowerment. Drawing from her personal journey, Brittney is dedicated to helping other mothers create empowering and positive birthing experiences, ensuring they emerge with a profound sense of strength, confidence, and self-discovery. Through compassionate guidance, Brittney strives to make each birth a transformative and inspiring journey into motherhood.

Service introduction

I would be happy to invite you to a complimentary consultation at any point during your pregnancy, creating an opportunity for us to discuss how my services align with your unique needs. This meeting is designed to ensure your comfort and provide you with comprehensive information, all without any pressure or obligation. Take the time you need to make this decision, and know that I am here, patiently awaiting your contact whenever you feel ready. Two In-Depth Prenatal Meetings: Our first meeting delves into your thoughts, feelings, expectations, and birth wishes. Together, we craft a detailed birth plan, encompassing your preferences for the birthing environment, pain control, support personnel, and more. This comprehensive plan ensures you have a voice and understanding of your choices. The second meeting, scheduled around four weeks before your due date, takes place in the comfort of your home. Here, we explore tools to gracefully handle early labor, recognize the onset of active labor, and navigate the progression of labor. We cover comfort measures, labor positions, relaxation techniques, and involve your birth partner to create a positive birth experience. Continuous Support During Labour and Delivery: On the big day, I stand by your side, offering continuous support whether at your home or birthing place. My presence is a calm, informed guide, assisting you with comfort measures, massage, and position changes. I take on a lead support role when needed, providing primary support persons with a chance to rest. Your choices and empowerment remain central throughout the process, and I am attuned to your needs, stepping back when privacy or space is required. Excellent, Certified Back-up Doulas: Rest assured with our team of experienced and certified back-up doulas, all members of the Doula Association of Edmonton. Your back-up doula is carefully chosen to complement your preferences and needs. Postnatal Visit in Your Home: Within a week or as agreed, I revisit your home to briefly review your birth experience, answer any questions, and ensure a smooth transition into the postpartum period. Photographs and Birth Timeline: Capture the moments with photos taken during labor and birth, providing you with a precious birth timeline to cherish. 24-hour On-Call Support: From prenatal to postpartum, enjoy 24-hour on-call support via email, text, or phone. Benefit from the reassurance of reaching out with questions or concerns at any time, nurturing a strong and supportive doula-client relationship.

Brittney was there for the births of my 2 sons. I could not have asked for anyone better to be with me. She was calm and caring. She gave me support from the first day I met her, and still does. She is very passionate about being a doula and her clients. When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, she was one of the first people I contacted.
