Facing numerous medical interventions during her cancer battle, Brittney recognized the importance of reclaiming control over her body during childbirth. Despite a first birth ending in a c-section, the overall prenatal, labor, and postpartum experience remained positive, thanks to the support of a wonderful midwife and labor companion. For her second birth, she achieved an empowering home water birth with the assistance of her midwife and doula. Brittney firmly believes in the strength and power of all women to manifest the birth they envision. As a doula, her goal is to provide unwavering support, fostering a peaceful birthing environment that transforms this experience into a moment of empowerment. Welcome to my journey! Growing up on a farm in Wheatland County, Alberta, Canada, taught me the value of hard work and perseverance early on. My dream of becoming a birth worker may have seemed distant at times, but it became a reality when I discovered the impactful role of a doula. I signed up for the Birth Belongs to Women mentorship, learning through women is truely so important to me. Being present for the miraculous moment of birth is beyond words, and I take great pride in supporting women during such vulnerable times. I firmly believe that every woman deserves to be honoured and cared for, and I am dedicated to providing gentleness, kindness, and reassurance throughout the process. Birth is not just about the arrival of a new baby; it is equally about honouring the mother and her unique experience. ​ When I’m not attending births, I’m busy caring for my animals, including my goats and Texas Longhorn/Highland cattle. I cherish my time with my dogs, Mena and Major, and my calf, Violet. I have always loved babies. At family gatherings you would usually find me snuggling the newborns and entertaining the other kiddos. It wasn’t until I gave birth in 2015 that something shifted and I was living the postpartum experience myself. I realised that yes, I loved all things birth and I consider myself a certified birth nerd, but there was something missing. After 13 years of working in the agricultural equipment industry, I discovered that my true passion lay in supporting new mothers during the postpartum period.
