About me

I’m Adele (she/her), birth and postpartum doula, perinatal educator, Evidence Based Birth Instructor, owner of The Hive Doula Services, RMT, mom to an 18 year old, and born in Ontario but lived in Calgary for almost 21 years. You can find me obsessing over birth photos and placentas, sending birthing videos to my bestie, and dreaming about the birth room. Birth is such a beautiful and empowering moment that we all get to witness. Your birth team should support and honour you, as this is your birth, your body, your baby. As your doula I offer evidence based information and resources. I 100% believe in you and your ability to go through this journey and into parenthood. And will low key throw some throat punches if needed (I’m mostly joking). I truly feel that everyone deserves a doula ♥️. Let’s connect and see if we are a fit.

What to Expect From Your Birth Doula: As your birth doula, I’m here to support you in every way I can, helping you feel as prepared and supported as possible during your birthing experience. Here’s how I can be there for you: 2-3 Initial Meetings: Our first few meetings are all about getting to know each other, talking through your birth preferences, and planning for postpartum care. I want to understand your hopes and needs so I can support you exactly how you want/need. On Call 2 Weeks Before Your Due Date: I’ll be available to you day or night, two weeks before your estimated due date, ready to support you whenever labour begins. Unlimited Texts & Calls: Whether you have questions, need reassurance, or just want to chat, I’m here for you anytime. Labour & Birth Support: I’ll be with you throughout labour, offering physical, emotional, informative support, and a calm presence to help you feel safe and empowered. Postpartum Support: After your little one arrives, I stay for 2-3 hours to help with chestfeeding/bodyfeeding and support you as you settle in. I’m here to help with any questions or challenges that arise. Follow-Up Visits: I’ll visit you within 24-48 hours after birth and provide additional home visits (2-3 times) up to 4 weeks postpartum to offer ongoing support and guidance. Amateur Birth Photography (iphone): I love capturing some of the precious moments of birth (with your permission, of course). I offer light, amateur photography to help you remember the beauty and power of the experience. What to Expect From Your Postpartum Doula: After your baby arrives, the fourth trimester can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to support both you and your baby so you can rest, heal, and bond. Here’s what you can expect from my postpartum doula services: 2-3 Initial Meetings: Just like with birth doula support, we’ll have a few initial meetings to talk about your expectations, plan for postpartum care, and make sure I understand exactly how I can best support you. In-Home Support (2-6 Hour Increments): I offer flexible in-home support, helping with everything from baby care to light household tasks so you can focus on taking care of yourself. Chestfeeding/Bodyfeeding Support: If you're navigating feeding, I’m here to help you with whatever you need, whether it’s offering advice, positioning help, or just being there for emotional support. Baby Care: I’ll assist with baby care so you can get the rest you need. Whether it’s a nap, a shower, or just a moment of peace, I’ve got you covered. Practical Help Around the House: I’ll lend a hand with meal prep, light cleaning, and anything else that might help take the load off, allowing you to focus on your recovery and bonding with your baby. Pricing & Sliding Scale: Birth Fees: $1450 Postpartum Fees: $35hr or 15hr bundle for $475 Sliding Scale: I offer a sliding scale based on income or circumstances, because I truly believe that every birthing individual deserves to have a supportive birth bestie in their corner. I’m committed to ensuring my services are accessible, and I’ll work with you to find a fee that feels fair and right. Looking back, Adele was a pivotal reason that my birth was such a good experience. She provided me and my husband with excellent support during our pre meetings. She was a calm and patient presence as I laboured both at home and at the hospital. She advocated for me to get the right anesthetist for an, originally unplanned, epidural, as I have scoliosis. She took gorgeous photos of the birth that I’ll cherish forever. She provided such tender care during our post-partum home visits. Adele is a joy—and even better she is an immensely knowledgeable joy. She is tranquil magic during the long journey of birth, and I’m so grateful that she helped me bring my baby girl into the world.

We knew Adele was the right one for our family the moment we met her. She's passionate, knowledgeable, approachable, friendly, and great with kids - basically everything you'd want in a doula. Our support from her throughout labour and postpartum was phenomenal. We had a home birth and she was great at making sure needs were met and that things were organized before she left. Added bonus is my toddler loves her! I'd easily recommend her to anyone I know who's pregnant and is looking for a doula to support their birth.

TLDR: Adele is an amazing human and doula. Her services are worth much more than she charges. You will not regret hiring her as a doula! My hubby and I love Adele. She is knowledgeable, passionate, caring, empathic, funny, and down to earth. I wanted a doula who would be a fierce advocate for us in a hospital setting and Adele was just right for the job!

I cannot recommend Adele enough. Her experience and passion for the job make her the best doula in the world. My husband and I both don’t know what we would have done without her. I was induced at 41 weeks and 3 days and Adele was key for helping me advocate for myself and helped me feel confident during the process. I had an amazing birth and honestly can’t wait to do it again.

Adele is a baby whisperer, and an informed and supportive Doula. She came to our rescue when we needed help with nights. My baby and I were very attached, and she made a difficult thing feel so cushioned and calm. He was very happy with her, and we both felt safe. No doubt, this mindful and kind person is in their calling. I am so grateful we found her, and would recommend her to my nearest and dearest in a heartbeat.

I truly can't recommend Adele enough. She seemed to always know what I needed when I needed it during labour and postpartum, while also making sure my husband felt involved and supported every step of the way. Her knowledge and calm presence brought so much reassurance, and it’s so clear that she truly loves what she does. She went above and beyond for us in every way. Adele is truly amazing!!

There are no words to describe how amazing Adele is. She treats my baby with such love and gentle, intuitive care, and made space for me to rest and heal. Not to mention our toddler always gets excited when he hears her pull up! Every time she walked through our door, the energy shifted, more peaceful, more grounded. It wasn’t just what she did, but how she did it: with compassion, without judgment, and with a quiet strength that made me feel safe.

If I could give Adele more than five stars, I would! She is truly phenomenal. From the moment we called her during my unexpected induction, she sensed my stress and was by my side instantly. She helped me formulate a birth plan and knew it inside out, advocating for me when things got intense. Adele was invaluable in pushing back against unnecessary medical interventions, ensuring my voice was heard. If you’re debating whether to hire a doula, don’t hesitate! Adele is a true gem.

Working with Adele as my doula has been one of the greatest gifts of my pregnancy and postpartum journey! From the moment we met, I was struck by her calming presence and genuine warmth. She has that rare ability to make you feel completely at ease, even in the most vulnerable and overwhelming moments. I genuinely can’t imagine having gone through that experience without her by my side. I am endlessly grateful for her and will be in contact again for our next baby!!

Adele is AMAZING! We have twin girls who have just turned 1. Adele has been working with us since they were around 3 months. We refer to her as “the girls’ best friend”. She absolutely lights up when she sees her and they have so much fun with her! She is fantastic with babies, and handled both of them with ease. Highly, highly, highly recommend.
