I honestly don’t know if words can fully express how grateful I am to Alla for being there for me during the birth of our baby girl. ❤️ We had one prenatal meeting before the birth, and even after that first meeting I could already tell how seriously, professionally, and wholeheartedly Alla approaches her work. She didn’t simply tell me what to expect during labour — she genuinely prepared me for different situations and gave me so many tools and options to feel more confident and prepared. We talked about breathing techniques, different labour positions, ways to relax and take pressure off my lower back, exercises with a birth ball, massage, aromatherapy, essential oils, and more. She showed me positions that could help encourage the baby into the right position, as well as positions to help keep the baby from turning back. She even showed me how to swaddle a newborn. And Alla literally came to my house with TWO huge bags full of different supplies and TWO large birth balls! 😄 She showed me how to use everything and even left the balls with me so I could practice and prepare my body for labour at home. And the funny part is… almost none of those things ended up being needed during my actual labour. 😂 Not because they weren’t useful, but because my labour was so incredibly fast that we simply didn’t have time! When my contractions started, I called Alla right away. She stayed in contact with me, listened carefully to what was happening, and even contacted my midwife herself to explain what I was experiencing and what my symptoms were. This was incredibly valuable to me because my midwife was English-speaking, while Alla could communicate in both languages, and having someone who could clearly explain what was happening made me feel so much more comfortable and supported. We met at the hospital, but by the time we arrived I was already essentially fully dilated. About 10 minutes after arriving at the hospital, I had my baby girl in my arms! 😅 So yes — my labour was literally lightning fast. There was no time for long massages, aromatherapy, different positions, or working with the birth balls. But even in those few minutes, Alla was right there beside me, supporting me, guiding me, helping me stay calm, and being someone I could completely rely on. And her support didn’t end when my baby was born. Alla stayed with me for another 3–4 hours after the birth. This meant so much to me. She simply stayed there with me, talked with me, supported me, and helped with the baby. When I needed to use the bathroom or take a shower, she could hold my baby for me. She rocked her, comforted her, and even put her to sleep. She helped me with the first latch and with breastfeeding, gave me guidance, and supported me while I was still adjusting to everything after giving birth. What I remember most is that it never felt like she was simply “doing her job.” It felt like I had a genuinely caring person beside me who truly cared about how I was feeling and how my baby was doing. We also met again at my home after the birth, and we had a long conversation. Alla continued to offer her help and support in so many practical ways — with cooking, laundry, household tasks, and even helping with my older children. I didn’t actually need that kind of practical help at the time because my husband was home and was able to take care of the household and our older kids. But the fact that Alla offered these things so naturally meant a lot to me. She didn’t just ask, “Do you need anything?” She actually thought about the different ways a new mother might need support and made sure I knew she was there if I needed it. That is what I appreciated most about Alla throughout the entire experience: she was always ready to do more. She wasn’t just someone who came to my birth. She prepared with me beforehand, took the time to understand my needs, supported me during labour, stayed with me for hours after my baby was born, helped with breastfeeding and newborn care, and continued to support me even after I was home. These were my third birth, but having Alla there still gave me an extra sense of confidence and reassurance. I felt more prepared, more supported, and simply less alone in the whole experience. Alla, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, professionalism, patience, calm presence, and enormous heart. ❤️ I am so grateful that you were my doula for the birth of our daughter. And even though my little girl decided to arrive so quickly that we didn’t get to use all of your “magic” birth balls, oils, massages, and techniques 😂 — I still felt your support from our very first meeting, through the birth, and throughout those important first hours with my baby. I wholeheartedly recommend Alla to every expecting mother. If you are looking for someone who will not simply be present at your birth, but someone who will prepare you, support you, guide you through the unexpected, stay by your side during the hardest moments, and continue to care for you even after your baby is born — Alla is that person. I would choose her again without a doubt. ❤️

Krista Kirkpatrick-Hatch

Hi there! My name is Krista, and I am the owner of KKH Doula Services in Calgary, AB, Canada. It is so nice to meet you! I started my doula business in January 2022. I became a postpartum doula after struggling in my own postpartum journey. Lacking my own support, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression and anxiety. It was through my perinatal mental health groups that I learned about postpartum doulas and the amazing work they do! I immediately signed up for postpartum doula training, and the rest is history! I have been so fortunate to have supported many families in their postpartum journey. Families seek me out because of my lived experience with perinatal mental health disorders, grief, and over 12 years' experience in the disability and mental health field. I am described as a kind, calm, hard-working, reassuring, and knowledgeable person, and I bring these qualities to my doula practice. I would be honoured to support you in your own journey! Please reach out for a free consultation to see if I would be the right match for you and your family!

We had an amazing experience with Krista as our overnight doula. She was always punctual, warm, kind, and incredibly reliable. From the moment she arrived each night, I felt completely comfortable knowing my newborn was in such good hands. One of the biggest things I appreciated was that I could actually sleep soundly. I rarely heard my baby cry or fuss during the night because Krista was so attentive and responsive to their needs. Every morning, I woke up feeling rested and reassured that my baby had been cared for with so much love and attention. Krista’s calm presence, knowledge, and genuine care made those early newborn weeks so much easier for our family. We are incredibly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to any family looking for newborn care.

I’m Adele (she/her), birth and postpartum doula, perinatal educator, Evidence Based Birth Instructor, owner of The Hive Doula Services, RMT, mom to an 18 year old, and born in Ontario but lived in Calgary for almost 21 years. Birth is such a beautiful and empowering moment that we all get to witness. Your birth team should support and honour you, as this is your birth, your body, your baby. As your doula I offer evidence based information and resources. I 100% believe in you and your ability to go through this journey and into parenthood. And will low key throw some throat punches if needed (I’m mostly joking). I truly feel that everyone deserves a doula ♥️. Let’s connect and see if we are a fit.

Looking back, Adele was a pivotal reason that my birth was such a good experience. She provided me and my husband with excellent support during our pre meetings. She was a calm and patient presence as I laboured both at home and at the hospital. She advocated for me to get the right anesthetist for an, originally unplanned, epidural, as I have scoliosis. She took gorgeous photos of the birth that I’ll cherish forever. She provided such tender care during our post-partum home visits. Adele is a joy—and even better she is an immensely knowledgeable joy. She is tranquil magic during the long journey of birth, and I’m so grateful that she helped me bring my baby girl into the world.

Lindsey was the emotional and physical support that I wish I would have had with my first baby! Birth is an out of this world experience, and Lindsey’s touch and voice brought me back into my body. She was so sweet and nurturing and I felt so well taken care of the whole time. I couldn’t have done it without her.

October 2026

I truly don’t have enough words to express how grateful I am to Alla for everything she did for me before, during, and after the birth of my daughter, Celine. From our very first conversation, Alla was incredibly kind, gentle, respectful, and welcoming. But what impressed me the most was how deeply committed she was to preparing us for the birth. She provided us with evidence-based information and scientific resources, explaining each stage of labor and helping me understand what I could expect physically and emotionally. I never felt unprepared or alone. Before the birth, Alla came to our home twice. She taught me different exercises and techniques to relieve the back pain and discomfort that came with pregnancy, and she also taught my husband how to massage me and support me physically. She didn’t just prepare me she prepared both of us to work together as a team during labor. She patiently studied and practiced everything with us, making sure we felt confident and ready. When I went into labor on December 18, 2025, Alla was with me every step of the way, even before arriving at the hospital. From the moment I told her I was in labor, she stayed in constant contact with me, checking in, supporting me, answering my questions, and making sure I had everything I needed. She was almost as excited and emotional as we were to meet our baby girl! Once she arrived at the hospital, she became absolutely essential to my birth experience. Celine was facing up, in a position that can make labor more difficult. My doctor mentioned bringing in another physician to perform a medical maneuver to help turn her. Alla immediately stepped in and said, essentially, “Let’s try some positions and exercises first and see if we can get this little girl to turn.” And we did. She guided me through different positions and movements, helped relieve my pain with massage, and made sure my husband was actively involved and knew how to support me. Those exercises made such a difference Celine turned during labor on her own, without the need for any additional medical intervention. My labor progressed beautifully and quickly, and I truly believe all the preparation we had done beforehand, combined with Alla’s support during labor, played a huge role in that experience. Alla also advocated for me throughout the birth, always respecting my wishes and the decisions we had discussed beforehand, while understanding that medical circumstances always come first. For example, when there was a discussion about cutting the umbilical cord, she reminded everyone of our wish to wait until it stopped pulsating. She was constantly looking out for what mattered to us. Together with my husband, Alla was one of the most important people supporting me during my birth. I honestly cannot imagine what that day would have been like without her. I truly believe my experience would not have been nearly as calm, supported, and empowering without her by my side. And her care didn’t stop when Celine was born. In the postpartum period, Alla continued checking in on me through messages and support, and she also came to our home. She helped me with breastfeeding and showed me how to improve Celine’s latch because breastfeeding had been painful. The difference was immediate once she helped us correct the latch, the pain stopped. She also cared for Celine, helped with whatever I needed, and made me feel supported during those very vulnerable first days as a new mother again. Alla gave us so much more than doula support. She gave us knowledge, confidence, reassurance, physical comfort, advocacy, and genuine care. I will forever be grateful that she was part of Celine’s birth story. If you are considering hiring a doula, I cannot recommend Alla highly enough. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, attentive, evidence-based, and truly dedicated to the families she supports. Thank you, Alla, for helping make the birth of my daughter such a beautiful, empowering, and unforgettable experience. We will always be grateful to you. ❤️

We had a wonderful experience with Angela and are grateful that she was a part of the birth of both of our babies. Angela provided lots of helpful resources during pregnancy to prepare for birth and to use during labour. I appreciated the books she loaned me, the use of her tens machine and I loved having the galaxy projector to create a calming atmosphere at both of my births. During our prenatal sessions she really listened to what we wanted and tailored her support to help us meet our goals. Throughout labour she was calm, reassuring and incredibly encouraging. We are so thankful for Angela and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable doula.
